13rd Or 15rd, What's your Favorite ?
What capacity mag do you like, 13 or 15 round ?
I have 13, 15, and 17 round magazines. The 13's are my favorite.
wagsfn...excellent advice and link to the best place for HiPower info...

I've used 13's, 15's and 17's as well. Decided to sell off the 15rd and 17rd mags, and now I have all 13rd. The 15rd mags seem to work fine for most, but the first one I tried caused issues in my HP.
I like my 17 round KRD, but the 13's are just fine.
My favorite are the 13rd factory mouse traps. I have never noticed any difference between the Mec-Gar 13 and 15rd mags so I would say I like the higher capacity. I have only used 1 17rd Argentine mag and was not impressed, however a sample size of 1 is not enough to make an informed opinion.
I use the 13's that came with but usually have a 15rd Mec Gar set up. Have never had a problem with them.
Also like the 20 rd mags.
I prefer the 13 round magazines. When loaded, the hollow follower of the 15 rounders can (rarely) tip. This can cause an "Oh, Sh*t" moment. I have never had it occur to me, but a friend had it happen twice with my Argie Hi-Power, so I know it can happen.
I also prefer the 13 round magazines that have the older follower with two prongs coming out of the underside, rather than the newer follower that has four feet extending out from each corner. No reason, I just do not like change "just because".
I just got some metgar 13 round mags I compared them with my browning mouse trap mag they both have a letter stamped on them on the same spot and both made in italy .same mag plant?

It was really nice. I have a cell phone picture that I will post once I get a chance. for now picture a really tight group with no flyers

I cant wait for don to start working on my hi power

13's, 15's and 17's here and as expected, 13's are my favorites followed closely by MecGar 15's.
I haven't had a problem with the 17 rounders but have heard of problems with them.
I have 13, 15 and 17 round mags, too.
My 17 rd mags eventually smoothed out but they were problematic at first.
The others have been no problem.
I do remember a guy on the old hi power forum telling us about all the ammo spilling out of his 15rd MecGar mag when the mag dropped on the ground.
I have the 13, 15, and 17 round magazines as well.
Far and away, the 15 round Mec-Gar's are my favorite.
I've never had a single problem with the 15 round magazines, of any kind.
The 13 round magazines work flawlessly, as you might expect....but so do the 15 round Mec-Gar magazines, in my Hi-Power. What's not to like? Two extra rounds, and flush fit.
I really don't care much for the 17 round magazines. They are obviously of a much poorer quality, than the factory and Mec-Gar magazines (which likely came from the same factory, so no surprise, there).
So the Mec-gar 13 rndrs are ok?
The only other time I heard of mecgar was the disdain people had for the beretta 92 mags.
Where to get the good ones?

You can get Mec-Gar's at Brownell'sor Midway USA. Also CTD and other places.
Never had any problems with my 13 rd Mec-gar's my 15 round ones will only accept 14. Am taking both for a handgun course next week and will follow up with a AAR
Unfortunately I just found out that my alloy BHP doesn't like the 15 rd. mec gars. I'm consistently getting a FTF on the last round. I'm guessing it may have something to do with the followers. I guess I'll have to order a few 13 rounders.
If you want to order mag pouches for the regular 13/15rnd mags, say from Blade-Tech, what is the best comparable size? Beretta 92 format?

Blade Tech Double Mag Pouch is designed to carry Browning Hi Power Mags. I carry mags using this mag pouch some times
Thanks. I was thinking more along the lines of 'generally speaking'.

Mec-Gar is the manufacture for OEM Browning magazines. Go with the 13rd magazine and you'll be fine. Pick up a 20rd Mec-Gar while your at it. They are a best kept secret for the Hi-Power.

Ran a all day defensive pistol class this past weekend with my 13 and 15 round mags from Mec Gar. Using a Butler Creek LULA loader I was able to load my 15 rd mags full, no way that was happening with thumb power alone. All mags were flawless in operation and I shot about 300 rounds, but being a fatty I noticed the sharp corners of the mags digging into my belly..not fun. Also while prices are better now than a few years ago I still cringed every time I dropped a mag to the gravel. I'd placed some improvised bumpers on them which helped some but after I grind off these corners and touch up the bluing I'll need to find a better solution. One person suggested the self adhesive velcro.. So there you have it for what it's worth.

I try and use the 10 rounders for any drill on gravel/concrete.
I have some aluminum mag pads I bought from Brownell's. They work ok.

I found Brownell's has a glue on set of 5 pads for less than $13 (dealer cost get that C&R) and CDNN has the 10 rnd mags for $9.99 and 13 rnd for $19.99.
