i'm talking about the CZ P01 and the CZ PCR compact..I was told the P01 is more akin to the SP01 and the other is akin to the 75B...anyone have both?

I don't have both but not too long after the P01 came out I held both and took a PCR home with me. The rail was not a big deal for me the PCR felt more balanced and looked better to me. One big dealer at a gunshow had them right beside each other so I was able to feel and see them side by side. I held both many times before deciding. At the time the PCR was about $30 less than the P01 but I would have bought the P01 if I had liked it better. That was a few years and a couple of thousand rounds ago and my PCR has yet to fail to function in any way.

Since then I have bought a Kadet kit for my PCR and that was another pleasant surprise. The instructions with the Kadet kit indicated that it may require some adjustent with a hand file to fit properly. Mine dropped right in and worked perfectly from the get go with no adjustment. For all practical purposes it is as accurate as my 6" Buckmark pistol.

The only thing that could be better about this PCR is the double action trigger which could be a bit smoother but if I get into a SD situation where I fire it in SA I doubt it will make much difference.

If what I have read is correct the PCR has a cast alloy frame and the P01 has a forged alloy frame. I have never heard of failures of the PCR frame and feel that a properly cast frame is fine but you should be aware of this difference in case it matters to you.

These days most everyone else seems to prefer hybrid, DAO, or cocked and locked actions. My experience with Murphy's law over the years makes me prefer DA/SA and a decocker as the safest and simplest.

I have a friend who has both.

They're going to feel roughly similar, but there are subtle differences. Like huaco, I also prefer the feel of the older style frames (PCR in this case). I prefer my standard 75 frames over my SP01 frames too. To me, they somehow have a more balanced feel to them.

I have felt both. The P01 does feel slightly different, but is very nice. The D PCR Compact is a really nice pistol. My local dealer put it to me this way.....

-They are basically the same pistol
-If you want something dedicated for concealed carry, get the PCR since it doesnt have the extra frame material on the rail = holster room, IWB comfort, etc
-If you want a dual purpose concealed carry and bedside gun (add a weapon light), then get the P01
-Both are great, both are virtually the same, they just look a little different

Let us know what you decide on. I will be purchasing one or the other in the next few months. I will just pick one and stick to it.
