 Parts Breakage on CZ75?

Ok, I'm in the home stretch here in deciding whether to get another Ruger MkII and trick it out, or get a 75 SA and a Kadet. Anyway, what parts is a CZ prone to break?

Get a spare slide stop and you will never have a problem. I thing I would have the same parts as any other gun. A slide stop, extractor and spring and a Mag catch spring. Add a couple of recoil springs and hammer springs and you should have everything covered.

I will second that. Get a spare slide stop and some springs, and an extractor. Standard stuff for these types of firearms. FWIW, most of the slide stop breaks that I have read about were on competition guns where they were using much lighter recoil and hammer springs.

Other gun owners' hearts?

I too added a Kadet kit to my 75SA & couldn't be happier.

I've pretty much got the same list as everyone else. Only thing I've actually broken has been my extractor
(on Wolf poly) after just short of 3 yrs of fairly hard use on exclusively brass ammo, and I'm watching my slide stop.
After I finish cleaning her, that pin gets a dab of Tetra grease, along with the slide channels.

Best accessory I've ever bought was the Kadet adapter. Funny thing about the adapter....you can get it cheaper directly from CZ_USA than
a couple of internet sites. I love it when I've made a whole lot of noise at the range, and the total ammo cost was about $2.98!

I have broken the firing pin retaining pin(s) the double roll pin before. Also, swapping out the recoil spring for Wolff was one of the best things I did.

I think this thread has somewhat diminished the confidence I have in my new CZ85B.

Why? Everything mechanical breaks at some point.

What kind of intervals are we talking about here?

Only thing I've broken in my CZ's were 2 trigger return springs. Each had north of 50,000 pulls on them. I also keep a spare slide stop.

Depends on how often you shoot them and how they are maintained. I had a Glock 17 that went back to the factory 3 times before the slide was replaced.

if youre really worried about parts breaking, just by a 2nd gun to shoot and for parts.

my first cz was/is an 85. it has about maybe 5k when the right side SR broke. that has been the only part that broke. it was a known issue and CZ updated the slide and part for free. I havent had any slide stop break on any of the CZs im currently shooting. my 85 has more rounds thru it tho and all of them are stock with the exception of some aftermarket hogues/pachmyr grips.

im not sure what the issue is, but CZ has a site in the USA and they have a CS and service department. If you live off world or someplace that isnt serviced by UPS/USPS/FEDEX then i dont see a problem. of course if youre the worring type and are constantly thinking of "what ifs" then as i said, buy a 2nd gun and use it for parts. but then you have the "what if" the 2nd parts parts break....and so on and so fourth.

CZ-75s (or the almost identical -85) have been used very sucessfully by several action shooting champions, including Angus Hobdell and Mathew Mink.
These guys go through more pistol rounds than anyone on earth, shooting thousands of rounds each month. Hobdell uses a converted cement mixer as a reloading tumbler. They have proven the -75 family more than reliable enough.

The slide stop appears to be the most common break. I broke one, but that's the only failed part I've had in my -85 Combat, that I use for USPSA competition.

I've owned several CZ75s and a CZ85 since the late 80s. Never broke any parts and used to shoot ISPC with them in the early 90s. Granted I haven't shot mine much this last decade do to deployments.
