STI GP6 owners: Please report.
How are these? Accuracy, ergonomics, quirks?
Thumb safety isn't great, can get switched on very easily. Backstrap is great for my wife, odd for me. Needs more texturing on the sides - I'll take pictures when I complete this.
The X200/X300/X400 lights don't fit the rail, however the SL TLR-1/2, Insight M3/M6/XM3/6, and Procyon/WX150 units do fit.
Accuracy is very good, the trigger pull has normalized at about 5# for me, the single stage is amazingly light and consistent - only my pricy 1911's can beat it.
Magazine availability is a bummer right now - can't wait to see more 20rd units coming out.
Sights - the stock ones aren't great, and I've boogered my rear sight a bit. I'm working on finding out if I can shoehorn an Ameriglo fiber/tritium front on there, but that's down the road.
The STI styled hammer claws stuff to shreds - it would be my wife's EDC, but the hammer is just too much. Still waiting to see if a more carry compatible version is on the way.
Magazine release can rust shut (in tropical weather).
It's an absolutely fantastic pistol, my wife loves it to death. She shoots fantastically with it, and it hasn't had any issued feeding quality 124gr, or junky 115gr Blazer Aluminium. I've come to prefer the S&W M&P 9mm FS with thumb safety over it. Magazine, sights, Apex Parts, and holster availability were deciding factors for me.
I live in the tropics, so the mag release issue is the deal breaker.
Thanks for the info.
As STI GP6 is just rebranded Slovakian Grand Power K100 I will write few of mine opinions.
After about 600 round it was 100% reliable, because the barrel desnt tilt its allways in one axis - it feeds reliably even if you cycle the slide slowly by hand.
Magazines work in CZ75, any you can make CZ75 mag work in GP6 by cuting slot in front side. One thing i dont like about it - mags inserted in gun wobble as you walk with gun in holster - kinda irritating.
The controls are too low profile which makes them difficult to work for me. I think the sights can be improved on alot. Then there's the mag availbility issue.
Nice pistol but needs some improvements to the above IMO.
Could anyone tell me if the steel slide runs on metal (from the pictures it looks metal) or does it slide on polymer? Cant figure this out from any reviews on line. Just wondering...
