So I found out that a friend of a friend has a Nickel Plate DE for sale. Now I have never really wanted one but come to find out that he only wants $500. Now I am interested. What kind of things should you look for when buying a Deagle?

A good hand surgeon would be my first recommendation. I'm by far not a recoil junky, but two mags out of the one I owned and away it went!

Ummm.

Not much recoil at all in a DE50 unless you are using someone's hot homeloads. I'm not calling you a pussy, but I have small girlie hands, and the recoil isn't bad in the least. Maybe it was the weight in my wallet getting lighter by a buck fifty a shot at the time.

The gun handles 99% of the recoil. It is shot easily one handed, but it freaks people out.

Most of the recoil is in your mind and folks tend to over react. If you want recoil, go with a revolver. I wont go over the Raging Bull because (a) I can't hunt dinosaur and (b) the recoil on revolvers has no place to travel but through your carpel tunnel.

EDIT: Sorry OP. Check for wear under the barrel. Then check the springs. I had my barrel tefloned and the body chromed. Looks great as a show piece, can be cleaned with a shotgun boresnake, and wont rust.

Look for one that is only $500. You can easily sell it for double on gun broker if you get bored with it.

What to look for???
Ammunition and spare magazines, neither of which are all that common and neither of which will be cheap.

Had one... sold it as my interests went elsewhere. 7.5" Piston AR pistol in my safe in it's place now....

Things to look for on the DE:

Springs. It eats them. Plan to replace ever 1k rounds or so.

Look for wear under barrel. Make sure it locks tight to frame when assembled.

Look at the "gas piston" lookin' thing under the slide/barrel. Look in the recess as well. Should be clean. Unmaintained / poorly treated and you'll find rust there.

Most everyone I've ever seen has been in good shape. Recoil springs being the only real "disposable" part that any one has ever needed.

If you can test fire it
Lead bullets don't play nice with the gas recoil system and can turn it into a single shot quickly

Something else.

Reloading equipment.

I've got a 50AE Tromix AR. She's pricey to feed, even when handloading.

$500 is a steal on that thing! Get it!

You should look for a nice camcorder and tripod. Maybe some skinny chicks in bikinis.

The DE .50 has light recoil. Its the muzle blast that is large.. One handed shooting is very easy with the .50

Run don't walk! Buy that thing at $500! You'll be doubling your money if you decide you don't like it. I have the identical pistol and I also have small hands - NO RECOIL. Recoil is a figment of someones imagination with this pistol.

I bought mine 2 years ago for $1100 and I felt I did well. I think extra mags were about $50 ea. I stock pile the ammunition and have used about 50 rounds since I purchased it.

Respawn in kitchen in 3......2.....1....

Personally, I'd look for a buyer, and try to double my money.

My partner and I took a .44 DE off of a thug at work a few years back. It had no mag, but one in the chamber. The gun without the mag weighed more than my entire duty belt, Glock 22 and all... Shooting it one handed would be easy.... If I could git one hand around the handle... LOL

That being said, I'd buy that thing in a minute and flip it for double a minute later.

Buy Band Aids. My stepsons ejects the brass straight back into the face of the shooter.
I`ve lost track of the number of times I`ve come home from the range with blood running down my nose from the cut on my forehead.
Other than that I`d say it is a lot of fun to shoot. Thats why I ignore the brass problem & continue to shoot it.

ETA-$500 is a bargain, buy it!

This. Had one for a while. It does not have a lot of recoil. What it does have is muzzle whip and torque. If i did not do my part in controlling those two things, it would rise and twist in my hand to the point where the ejection angle is right into my face. Good firm grip and it did not happen. Loosen it just a little, big old hunk of brass bouncing off my forehead. Not pleasant
