Hi Point 9mm rifle
How is this gun?
I can get it from a local gunshop that I really like and they have one on the wall.
It is lightly used and I can get it out the door for $190.
Thay seems like a reasonable price, but I was just wondering about its quality.

I had a roomate that bought a Hi-point pistol and while it was the damned ugiliest and one of the least ergonomic pistols I have ever shot, it did function 100%. The Hi-point carbine is alot uglier than some of the other 9mm carbines like the Beretta and even a 9mm AR, but for a plinker carbine I dont think you can beat it. Don't plan on adding a scope, lasers, and all sorts of crap on to it and I think you will be happy. Besides Hi-point's warranty is amazing, no joke!
Thats not a bad price considering the enviroment we are in now, how many mags? I am pretty sure the mags are only 10rd too.
Of the many Firearms I own the 995 Hi-Point Carbine is one of the fun guns. Shoots very well for what it is and just always good for a laugh. Not as a piece of shit but but a good little plinker. Only draw back is the mag capacity.
ugly as sin, but relaible as any other weapon i own. lifetime warranty mak,es it good for a high volume plinker for range use. mag capacity is an issue but HP is workin gon it so im told.

The only real problem is paying 17-20 bucks for a small, thin, single stack mag.
The pistols are ugly as hell, but the carbines aren't as bad. Plus you can get that aftermarket stock to make it look a little better.
My wife has one. It was great because she was at the range out-shooting this lawyer friend of mine who was using a much more pricey Beretta 9mm carbine (storm?)
The look on his face when he found out we bought it for 185 bucks...
I've pretty accurate with it out to about 75 yards. My wife though, she can hit clays at 100 yds.
Of course, that was when we could afford to sling hundreds of rounds of 9mm a week.
I picked up a couple last year for about $155 e/o new. I have since seen them as high as $350 by some exploiters. Anyway, they are way fun to plink with but like previously stated the single stack mags work great but you have to load them up again and again. The after market hi-caps suck and are unreliable and will most likely jam several times on each mag.

Yes, they are ugly!
I have a 995 carbine. Works fine, accuracy is quite decent. The stock ergonomics suck, the safty is a two handed affair, and I only have one mag. Aftermarket mags are supposidly junk, and I've never came across any originals for sale. I've never put the effort into searching up another mag though.
I traded into mine(didn't really want it), intending to trade it for something else later. However, it has preformed well enough that I decided to keep it despite it's flaws.
i had a hi point 9mm rifle. It literally fell apart when I was shooting it. Stay away. They are truly pieces of shit. Get a .22 if you want to plink.

If your rifle fell apart, it must have had tens of thousands of rounds fired thru it prior AND been abused in the process. Because these things are built like tanks.
Moreover, if it did actually fall apart (and quite honestly, I'm having trouble believing that), all you would have to do is place the parts in a box, mail it back to the manufacturer, and they would either fix it or send you a new rifle without charge to you.
How many other companies can you say that about???
These rifles are not pieces of shit. They are basic, reliable, durable, fun plinkers. Hell, I shot about 3,000 rounds through mine without ever cleaning the thing, and it worked fine! And they're surprisingly accurate, too. The only downside, as already mentioned, is that there are no functional hi-cap mags available for it. The aftermarket mags truly do not work.
If Hi-point made hi-cap mags for these, they'd sell twice as many rifles. Unfortunately, the politics of the situation make selling a hi-cap mag difficult. Anytime you develop hi-cap mags for a <$200 gun, you will be accused of making a "ghetto assault rifle". Hi-Point understandably doesn't want that attention.
I have one in .40 and it's the ugliest rifle in my cabinet. Mine has never had any problems and the accuracy surprised me. I put a cheap Cabela's red dot/reflex site on mine. They are very fun range guns.
The new hi point carbine 995TS is now available.
Looks a whole bunch better than the old ones.
I think its the same carbine with a different stock but it does have LRBHO.
I might have to pick one up as a truck gun.
get the ATI stock. It looks nice: http://www.atigunstocks.com/products.aspx?category=6&page=1&id=18
and
get the 15 round clip: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=136236
I have shot several Hi-point carbines. They are accurate, reliable and fun shooters.
Look pretty good with the aftermarket beretta storm style stock......had a buddy that hated his though.....
I have a 9mm carbine for several years. Paid 120.00 new, gives idea of age. Never failed, fun, accurate.
