Looks like what used to be jennings or bryco, or something. Anyone have one? I saw a .22 at the show for $100, almost bought it just for fun. Are these same to carry with a round in the chamber?

complete and total junk.

i have a jennings .22LR dinner plate accurate at 3ft. -not kidding

jams every round unless you just pull the trigger as fast as you can, then it works.

i bought it from a guy when i was about 15 for $35 and i got ripped off.

oh, but the safety does work. we loaded a blank in it and tossed that gun around, off the wall, into the air, hit the ground, even hit it around with a softball bat. it never went off. finally i picked up and pulled the trigger "bang".

before even thinking of using one as a last ditch effort ,or backup to my back up gun i would tie a string around it and swing it like a mid-evil weapon before i would trust my life with it .

but thats just my .02

I've got a Jennings .22 that I bought right after I turned 21 for my then-girlfriend that was working nights downtown at the time. I figured it would be OK for a glove box special. I paid about $125 for it, including having the feed ramp/throat polished. I've always used CCI Stinger through it. It usually does work but I've never been a fan of having cheap stuff in my collection. I've got plenty of guns that cost me $1000 or more so I almost feel guilty letting it litter my current collection but I haven't bothered selling it, though I very possibly should. Hell, I may just toss it over a bridge one of these days. I agree with other posters. If you want a mouse gun in .22 (personally, I won't carry smaller than a 9mm) spend a little extra cash and buy something worth a shit. Guns are like most things: you get what you pay for. When you're going to use them to defend yourself then you shouldn't mind spending a little extra dough. These cheap-o guns from Jennings, Davis, Bryco, Hi-Point, and some of these other turds in the $75-$200 range. Get something with a real brand name that actually has real engineering and metallurgy involved. It's worth the extra dough.

I still want one of the Jennings type .22s just to tinker with...But I'm a sucker for small cheap pistols

These guys love them: SNS forum

I would under no circumstances carry it with one in the pipe. Wouldn't carry it period if I had anything else.

When Jennings became Jeminez they added three safety features as part of the quality control.

One..the trigger lock with key.

two...the bright red chamber loaded indicator on the back of the slide.

Three..The manual safety

I don't know how much they improved quality, but Jeminez HAS improved over Jennings.

So don't pass completely on the Jeminez...I believe it is a better weapon than the Jennings reputation would make you believe.

.

The older Jennings pistols are machined much better than the newer Jimenez. The insides of the older Jennings look like a Swiss watch compared to the newest offerings by Jimenez.

Like most .22 pistols, most issues are ammo/magazine related. Feed the Jennings a diet of CCI, keep it clean, make sure the magazines are good, and you should have no problems.

I bought a Bryco-Jennings .32auto years ago......similar story looking for something small, inexpensive for the car......picked it up new for around 99.00 or so..took it out to a junk yard and fired one mag through it....round 3 jammed but was correctable......I read a bit about it and changed to a differant ammo to "resolve" the problem. Didn't fire it until about 3 years later....I take it out just to run the ammo out and replace it with new ammo.......and soooo....

Eyes, Ears on.....trigger squeeze...and Bang...the f'in slide blows off and spins past the right side of my head and out of my peripheral vision...............had that thing hit me in the face....I'm sure it would have been really bad, bad mojo......POS...POS......gun reassembles.....took it to work and turned it in for meltdown....

I read up on it recently because I trashed the weapon and still had the mags.....ended up selling them for $10.00 on a local gun site......Beer money......Did find two other posts on gun sites where the slides blew off as well....holy smokes...

i bought one of those at a gun show when i was looking for someting CHEAP just to pop off some .22 ammo.
found out quick it would not shoot any of the bulk packs on the market the first time we went out.
i would FTF FTE stove pipe quite a lot. got on the internet and found a fourm dedicated to little cheap guns like it found out what the problem was.
i even called the factory and the confirmed the problem of it not liking the bulk ammo, they said the only use CCI brand for all their tests.

now after having it for 2-3 years i finally got it working like it should and it will now feed and eject all brands.
took a rat tail file and did a little champhering<sp> on the chamberand polishied the inside of the chamber , not it works.

would i trust it with my life? hell no!
would i reccommend it to another person? hell no!
do i still shoot it when i go to the range? yep..

I know this is an old thread, but I had been thinking about a cheap pistol for beating on/leaving in the truck, I have been talked out of it.

Thanks!
