FEG PA-63
I finally got to the range to test fire a PA-63 I got in 9x18 makarov.
What a fun pistol. I like its weight and size, and its more accurate than I am at the moment.
Shot 98rnds of silverbear ball. Good practice. Then I tried 7 winchester ball, and they recoil a bit harder.
Found 6 of 7 brass for that about 4 feet from me.
Then I tried 7 privi partisan ball....and the casings vanished! It has a smart recoil with privi too.
One FTF in a used flat painted extra mag I got, the gloss painted mags worked great.
I got a Bianchi IWB holster for PPK which make carrying this pistol a breeze.
Dare I say Iike it better than my glock19??? yeah I think I do.
Great pistol for the money. I replaced the recoil spring and main spring in mine and it shoots much smoother. Here is an article from makarov.com
Ok so I have PA63 - The Recoil is Killing my hand, what can I do ? - Wolff Gunsprings makes several replacement springs for the PA63. The 13# recoil spring is designed for standard Milspec 95gr ammo. The 15# spring is designed for limited use of the Hotter self defense ammo such as Corbon PowerBall, Hornady XTP, Glaser, etc. Since the PA63 has an Alloy frame, and was designed for 95 gr Milspec ammo, it is both unsafe to fire ANY ammo with heavier than 95gr bullets. Doing so will cause jams, misfeeds, greatly increased wear on your pistol, and as some people have found out the hard way, even cause the pistol to become unsafe to shoot and cause injury to the shooter. Wolff also has a new mainspring for the PA63 that will reduce the DA and SA felt trigger pull by up to 40% depending on your firearm.
Yeah I did buy a 13lb mainspring.
I swapped it out, and it was worse(snappier recoil), SOooo I think the previous owner must have put the 15lb one in there.
DA is heavy but not 20lbs, so I think he must have done that too.
This I bought in the local pawn/gun shop, the guys there don't really know much about guns IMHO, especially the trade-ins.
But its hard to search and research back and forth sometimes. But for $180 I am very happy.
It has a cool SN too #2828. (frame, slide and mag #s all match)
My gf had one. I loved it but she thought the trigger wss a little onbthe heavy side. I was hoping that she would gift it to me but she fell in love with the Bersa Thunder we saw at a gun show and the dealer offered her 150 trade-in against the new Bersa so by-by FEG.
I really liked that little pistol but couldn't really afford the trade-in she got for it at the time. The trigger didn't really bother me on d/a but it did her.
There is a really good web-site on her computer on the PA 63 series pistols. If I can remember I'll link it to this thread on friday when I see her. PM me if I forget and you're still interested.
I miss shooting mine. I think something is either wrong with the firing pin or it is broken. Anyone have an idea?
Sorry, but you'll have to disassemble it to check to see if its broken.
I found a pdf of the disassembly somewhere online.
Parts can still be found online.
I have 8 mags now, and having fun practicing with it.

Drop a pen or pencil down the bore and pull the trigger. If the pencil flies across the room, your firing pin is fine.
Edit: lol... mobile didn't show the post dates, didn't know I was resurrecting a thread from the dead!

Thats fine..... I was just as surprized... I love my PA-63, the only issue I have with it is I wish the sights were a little better, other than that, if we ever got CCW here in Illinois, I'd carry mine, its a decent piece.
