Are Hi Points safe to carry condition 1?
I'm guessing they're single action? Are they safe to carry with one in the pipe?
Waistband carry?

Call me crazy, but there's a few things I wouldn't trust around my junk, and a Hi Point in condition one is right around the top of the list.
Is it safe yes, is advised as a carry piece for any reason no. If you are a drug addicted gang banger your good to go though.
I held my first highpoint at a gunshow about a week ago...
I noticed how heavy and thick they are...
Why in the hell would you ever want to carry one, they are for people that want a hd/blaster and are to damn cheap to buy a real gun.
a keltec P11 can be found for about $250 or less new.
It's an ok gun that shoots well enough, and its light...
or double that and buy an XD or a Glock for carry.
I don't think a Hi-Point would be safe to carry in any condition.

You could go all out and upgrade to a Lorcin.
I cant even picture myself carrying a hi-point..
I would save up for a better hangun. They may cost more than the hi point but there is a reason why they do.
I think hi points are ok for a range gun, when I was little my dad bought one from a guy at work (this was before he was into guns, and it was his first) but it was a .40 full size. It was before the polymer frame hi point came out so it was all steel, and adjustable sights. Since mine was all metal its alot heavier than the new ones, and longer, and the sights were about a foot off but at the time it was fun to shoot!
We only paid $70 for it, and it got me into guns at a early age, I was probley 6 or 7. Since then we bought many more guns and got into the hobby.
I dont mean to bash hi-point, as I still have mine (being my first handgun, well my dads but one day it will be mine...hate being under 21 but, and it was the first gun I held let alone fire.) You would be better off saving up for something else, I wouldnt sell the hi point however if it shoots good, unless you have to for money reasons.
Good luck
I would rather have a good slingshot........
Or a sharpened stick........
Or a bar of soap in a tube sock....
Just my personal preferences, FWIW.

.
This...for sure.
To answer the original post question before the hiPoint bashing started, I would not presonnaly carry in condition one because of the safety. I have owned several HiPoint pistols and I have found them to be 100% reliable with hardball but the safety is a little to small for my tastes. Is it safe in conditon 1, probably as safe as any pistol of that design carried in a holster. Would it be my first choice in defensive weaponry, not if I could afford something better. The first rule of a gunfight is HAVE A GUN. If a HiPoint was all I had I use it with confidence. I would carry it in a holster with chamber empty and safety off.
i guess you could carry in it some SHTF scenario with checkpoints, roadblocks, and such without giving a shit about losing a weapon to an overzealous govt type...
but under normal situations,think about
this hipoint thread on another forum...
this guy did all the usual stuff like polishing the feedramp n such to get a cheap gun to cycle hollowpoints properly and ended up with an ND due to design/mods/fucking around...
how often do you have to load/unload your carry gun per day? probably a lot on some days depending on your situation...
i keep a tacklebox c9 when fishing but it never has one in the pipe FWIW
