Question: XDm 45ACP 3.8" (Compact) Magazines & carry holster
I've got this gun on the way (should be able to pick up on Tuesday). I'm looking for additional magazines to feed it, would like a few more of the 13-round extended magazines and a few more of the 9-round compact magazines... but where can I find them?
Will the standard
XD 45ACP 13 round extended mag work with this gun?
And where can I find another 9-round magazine for it? I don't even see those listed on Springfield's web store?
Lastly, anyone recommend a good IWB holster for this gun? Comp-Tac doesn't have a kydex body for it (which is disappointing because I was just going to buy another kydex body for my minotaur holster)...
XD45 mags = XDm 45 mags. Always have, so yes, they will work. I have the same gun.
Now, as far as a holster... I use a universal nylon Blackhawk 5 inch IWB holster. I found that my Glock 19 fit lower in it, than in a 4 inch, and was more comfortable. The XDm 45 3.8 is the same size, and fits the same. It WORKS, but I've found that SOMETHING on the 3.8 causes me some disconfort. Haven't figured it out yet. I haven't tried it in a 4 inch yet.
For a kydex holster, I would personally recommend
Armordillo Concealment. They have made a couple of holsters for me, for other guns, in the past. Good prices, and good turnaround times. You MAY have to pay them half of the cost of a "blue gun" to make the mold with, but even thenm, it still comes out costing less than a Raven, or other name brand.
As for a 9 round extra mag... I was kind of wondering why the 4.5, and 5.25 come with 3 mags, and the XDm 3.8 only comes with a 9, and a 13... but this IS a carry gun.... So you pack it with the 9, and carry the 13 as a spare. I would honestly send Springfield an email, and ask them WTF they didn't include the 3rd mag.... Also, if you want an extra 9 round, I would also say, ask Springfield. In the meantime, you could use one of the XD45 10 round mags, and it SHOULDN'T stick out much further...

For the holster I would recommend the Crossbreed Supertuck. I have one and carry a full size Xdm9 in it with no issues. My XD 45 Service also fits in it and disappears just as well. I've been carry the XDm in this for about two years now and have no desire to look for another IWB holster.
I would check Midway for the magazines, unfortunately you won't be able to find great deals on the mags they all seem to be around $30 everywhere.

OK, so the extended 45 is the same, I guess. I'll be waiting until I get the gun on Monday or Tuesday to be sure, but then will buy a few mags. I really do want at least one more 9-rounder, though, so I don't have to expect the one that comes with the gun will work for the life of the gun ;-)

I just picked up mine this pasty Friday. I was surprised to see that that it came with 2 of the 13 round mag grip extensions. I happen to have 5 of the 13 round mags for my full size XD .45. You just slide these on the mags and they fill in the grip. Not sure if that makes sense? I carry mine in a Crossbreed Super Tuck. It will disappear with the 9 round mag. The original XD's came with a crappy holster. These come with what looks like a smaller version of my Fobus holster. I wore it all day Sunday and it was surprisingly comfortable. Springfield put together a very nice package with this gun.

Careful with the 13rnd mags as the x-tension or whatever they call the grip sleeve you put on the mag is different on the XDM vs the original XD45c due to the XDM grip being a bit shorter. Found a few pics in a thread on

I'm hoping someone comes up with a spacer for that little bit. I've got a good handful of the XD45c mags in 10 and 13. I have no problems making the 10rnd disappear. Not sure how much that half an inch or whatever is missing was worth it.

+1 for supertuck. spend the couple extra bucks for the horsehide, it's worth it.

You can use Comp-Tac's "slide" version of the Xdm 40 MTAC holster. The slide version is just open on the muzzel end to accomodate and length of Xdm. I have a Xdm 4.5" 45 in this holster and it fits perfectly. The 45 is slightly wider than the 40, but there is plenty of adjustment in the MTAC.
However, I have heard nothing but good things about the Supertucks.

Too bad they don't carry the 9 rounders though.
I have heard (not seen first hand or anything) that the 10 rd mags in the XDM compact can damage the extractor if you insert the mag with too much force (or hit them). YMMV just passing on what I heard.
I heard on another XD site that you can get extra 9rd mags from Springfield. They don't show up on their web site, but if you call they will help you out.

Good! I have tried everything except call them directly. I emailed them yesterday, but I havent heard anything back yet.
