 9mm XDM, Yay or Nay

My co-worker won a brand new Springfield XDM in 9mm from a contest not to long ago. I am not sure which one it is as far as features, barrel length etc. I do know that the gun is brand new though.

He is looking to sell it, and I am kinda interested. A while back, when the XD's first came out, I shot a full size 45 ACP version and really liked it. I also was kinda wanting a 9mm range toy for plinking.

My question though, is if these guns are good overall. I honestly have not heard anything bad about the XD's from day one, and seeing as I liked the one I shot, I would say good to go. But... since it's been a while since they came out, I wasn't sure if anything horrid has reared it's ugly head since then.

So what say the hive? Yay or Nay?

I will also post details about the specific model he has too when I find out, and once I post that, I am going to need a ball park of what a good price would be.

Thanks!

Bought SA XD's and XDM's and sold my Glocks.

Nuff said.

Nothing but great things to say about them!

XDm 9 is great, I've got over 2K rounds through mine already with no issues. Before I started reloading I various brands or ammo with ZERO issues. I use it as my CCW as well. I will be picking up an XD 45 this week from a seller on the EE.

Sweet, thanks guys. I really hope its the 5.25" Comp version (below). That would be a freakin sweet range toy, and might even act as a "bump in the night" gun as well depending on how well I like it and trust it. 19 rounds of 9mm hollow-points would be a comforting thing.

Anybody know if these guns are +P or +P+ rated? Or is it just regular loads for these guns?

I am a Glock guy, they work.

I have used an XDm to win several other guns and prizes in competition.

It really is either or.

ARGH!

Just talked to the guy about the XDM, turns out I was a day late and a dollar short. He already sold it.

I'm glad I asked though, cause I still am interested in one. Just means I have to buy one from the L.G.S. and be able to pick out the one I want.

A friend of mine has one of the 5.25 competition models in a 40 cal. He let me use it in a shooting competition and I won money with it first time out.
(Not a lot of money but it is the bragging rights that count )

It is a really sweet shooting gun.

According to the SA rep at camp perry pistol competition they are all +P rated.

I run both light and heavy powder loads through all of mine and have never felt or had any issues.

I can run as low as 650ish Ft/sec slow before I start having issues. Just not enough ass to completely rack the slide.

I have never had a single issue out of the 12 XD/XDM's that I shoot the hell out of.

When looking at CCW's it literally became a toss up between the the M&P 9C adn the XD SC (in 9MM), ended up going the S&W but let me tell you that the XD was light years better than the Glock in every way

Care to elaborate?
