I just checked out the new 5.25 45, and I like it, as does my wife. I am just wondering when the hell they are going to make a shortened frame, for CCW, using the old 10 round mags?

Has anybody heard anything?

I find it interesting that they skipped making a 5.25 in 40, and went straight to 45

I already have the 5 inch regular XD, and I love it. I would imagine the 5.25 is going to be even more accurrate.

I talked to the Springfield-armory representatives at the camp Perry national pistol
matches, and he said he hasn't heard anything about it.

If they do come out with it I will be the first to buy one!

OP, i hope you're not holding your breath! i think the best you' ll see is if you put your tac barrel on a compct frame and vice versa!
i did it and it works fine but you need to have the compct service model as a donor. it's not like a glock where you order a frame from bill manweh and make the converzion.

eta
they do offer a "compact tactical" but i haven't priced one since i can make my own.

I also emailed them, about a week ago, and they said no plans at this time.

I just went ahead and got the XD-45 Compact, I love it

I'm retarded, is that the same size as the original XD .45 compact? Which was really close in size to the block 19?

Or closer in size to the XD sub-compact?

(grip length wise)

Looks like I'm going to be getting both a 5.25, and the shortened 3.8

Well, it looks like they made it a LITTLE bit shorter in height than the XD Compact, as it comes with a 9 round magazine, rather than 10.

OAH is 4.55 inches, with the flush fit mag, 5.55 inches with a 13 rounder.

The XD 45 compact is 5 inches, with a flush fit 10 rounder, and 5.75 inches with a 13.

WANT!!!

With the longer slide and shorter grip that's the best of both worlds for CCW. Many years ago I thought the perfect CCW would be a full length slide 1911 with a Commander or shorter grip. Now the question is....do I keep my XD numbers at 3 or make it #4?
