I'm new to the world of rimless revolvers via a new taurus 905 (report in the taurus section) and I'd like to take the time to have a thread asking for input on what things you may have discovered that may be usefull to know that pertain to this caliber platform combination.

What I've discovered is that I don't need to worry about extraction of empties AFTER reloading in a ccw situation, Since I only keep a five shot reload on a speed strip I have nothing to reload a second time with negating the need for extraction.

Using trimmed down 38s&W cases (not special) makes a rimmed 9mm round that can be used in 38/357 speedloaders and strips, that will extract sans moonclips

velocity with similar bullet weights is much closer to 357magnum that 38spl from a 2" bbl

Please feel free to share what youve learned or to just discuss what you think of 9mm in a snubby

I've always wanted one but for some reason never quite jumped –– I'll be very interested to read the comments/discussion here.

Doesn't the 38S&W have a true straight walled case, while the 9mm has a slight taper? I would think that might cause some problems.

Being the owner of a 905 SS, I would really like to try out a 905 with an ultra-light frame.

I'll have to try out the speed strips one of these days.

It is slightly tapered But remember its also slightly bigger than 38spl and fires a .360" diameter bullet. The 9mm resizing puts the taper on and you only end up with amount of space unsupported as you would using 38spl cases. I wouldn't go so far as to throw full on 9mm loads in s&w cases but 380 or 38s&w level loads work just fine.

Look for Federal 9mm Rimmed cases. Very pricey but worth it for the added safety.

(I had a 9mm Federal "Pit Bull" –– thought I'd never unload [as in sell] that thing.)

I have a Ruger Speed Six in 9mm. I like it, but it is a six shot and as such it is bigger than my stubby J-frames. The way I look at it is for the same sized/wieght handgun I can be packing a .357. So I don't concelled carry it. Now a J-frame in 9mm has some appeal.

-For the reloader I think that a 9mm/.45ACP/.40 S&W revolver makes a lot of sence. I had a batch of 9mm that did not run in my auto. Not problem I just ran it through my Speed Six. I have a Blackhawk in .45LC and would love to get a .45ACP cylinder.
