Where can you find these? I have been looking for several days now, online, local, and at the last gunshow yesterday but I couldn't find any. Does anyone know of a place to find them?

Gabe

I've not seen one in person yet.

I've been on a list at the LGS for months now for one and they tell me they can't find any.

Apparently they're only shipping 300 a week. That's a grand total of six per state. Woe betide you if you don't live in a populous state like OH or FL.

/been on waiting list at LGS for two months myself...

GanderMountain here in Texas has them, might check yours, $749.

Last I saw, GAT guns in East Dundee, IL had some but to my knowledge you have to go there to buy a gun from them and they were listed at $699.

I was out running from gun shop to gun shop on Saturday looking for my first 1911. I was hoping to find something used for a decent price since I have always been able to save a ton of dough with used guns.

I stopped at a shop and they had two SR1911s in the case for $669. I handled one for a few minutes and really liked it. I decided to run to another gun shop that was 10 minutes down the road to see if they had anything that I liked. I spent about 10 minutes in the next shop and they didn't have anything that interested me, so I went back to the shop that had the SR1911 with the intent of buying it.

I walked up to the counter and noticed they were down to one SR1911! I went to flag over a sales person to say I will take the SR1911 and before I could open my mouth, another person said "Can I take a look at that gun" and pointed at the SR1911! The guy spent about 15 minutes playing with the SR1911 and talking with the sales guy. Finally he put it down and walked away. As soon as he walked away I told the salesperson that I would take it.

I ended up buying the display model. It had a small idiot scratch under the slide release where someone scratched it putting the slide release back in, so the the shop was kind enough to knock the price down $20.

I took it to the range yesterday and it shot beautifully! I shot 100 rounds of 230gr WWB through it and the accuracy seemed decent. I was getting about 2 inch (or better) groups at 7 yards if I took my time, paid attention to my grip and breathing.

I had one failure to feed on the 3rd magazine. I noticed the slide was binding a little and it seemed dry. I put some oil on the slide and barrel bushing and shot the rest of the 100 round WWB valu-pack without issues.

I have only shot a couple of rounds through a Para-Ordinance Warthog so I don't have a ton of experience with 1911s, but I was really impressed with the SR1911. If fit my hands perfectly and shot like a dream. I'm really glad I went with the SR1911. I was originally going to get an RIA, Taurus or something in that price range, but I'm glad I spent an extra couple of bucks for the Ruger.

ETA - It doesn't hurt that it is a beautiful looking gun.

It's really starting to piss me off that I can't find one of these buggers in my neck of the woods. I own more Rugers than any other mfr, and I want one of these real bad.

Ruger did a good thing with the SR1911.

I got to handle one at live-fire manufacturer's event the other day.

I'm pretty impressed. Really impressed actually. For around $700, it may be my first 1911 and beat out a low-end Colt.

I'd prefer a nice Dan Wesson, but for half the price, the Ruger would be a great pistol to fill the void until I can afford a different one.

The Ruger reps did mention that they were selling every one they make.

short note; i picked mine up last saturday at my lgs, they got a shipment in of some 30 sr1911's. they had a waiting list but had a few left over and i got one. they are nice, look and feel good, i have only got to put 100 rounds thru it and that was basically to see wha to expect from it. it shot to poa which i was holdin dead center on the bull and it was producing 3.5 to 4 inch groups of 5 rounds. i am going out tuesday for the day so i will find out more. i am glad i got it.

Cabelas in Gonzales Louisiana has one that is for display only. it is the only one that I have actually seen and handled. It seems to be a very well built pistol and I am sure that I will have one someday. But I am not salivating over it like so many folks seem to be these days. In two years they will be as common as any other brand of 1911 and once the "hey, look at the new girl" infatuation wears off, it will be regarded as just another 1911.

DAMN! You can't beat that price. Was it with a LE discount?

That is a great price.

I was, and still am happy with my price of $609 (civilian think LEO was $579).

No LE price for me. I got it at Lawman's Supply in Raleigh. The Charlotte store has the same price for the gen. pop.

I don't think there is a "LE discount" on Rugers, is there?

Well, you are probably right about the "winner" being happy. It is likely a symptom of his condition rather than a result of his circumstances.

"Bought new and put in a safe." The seller makes it sounds like it was found in Al Capone's vault.

Anything above $600 and I would rather have a new Springfield. Anything above $800 and I would rather have a new Colt.

Yeah, I saw there was some on gunbroker finally. But I'm not willing to pay extra to have it now. Like you others, I will wait until I come across one locally and at the right price.

If I knew more about 1911's I might agree with you, but something about the Ruger is appealing to me. Maybe cause it's a Ruger, and I do like Rugers. Maybe it's the way that it looks. Who knows. I know that I want one. More than I want a Colt or Springfield.

We had one at the shop that I checked out a few weeks ago. Overall looks nice , but i will wait to hear some feedback from some users before I jump on the Ruger bandwagon.

yall really dont want one I took mine out today and it is pretty boring . I run 3 different manufacture 7 round mags and the same with 8 round mags . never a slip , trip , or bobble . all the brass looks good and the trigger is so much better than my armscor tactical I thought I was shooting a national match trigger.
this is what 45 rounds down range looks like fired standing at the 15 yd line

You can buy from GAT guns, but have to do an FFL transfer for out of state. They had a bunch because they did a Ruger Demo and worked out a deal to get a bunch of them.

Either they are not making any money on that sale, they misquoted the price, or other dealers are making a mint.

Some distributors are getting them. We just had one come into the shop and it flew right back out. The price we sell them is/will be $650!! That was last week, I had not seen one until then. I was so impressed I had the manager order me one through Ruger's gunshop employee program, but it'll be sometime in January before it arrives. I have to wait my turn like everyone else.

I can say it'll be well worth the wait. The other 1911 makers better sit up and take notice because Ruger 1911's will be the hot seller. I currently have four 1911's and don't need another one but the Ruger was so impressive it grabbed me hard so I caved in a matter of seconds.

I also work at a gun shop/ indoor range. We have one on the rental board board that has over 3K rnds. thru it. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish even inside the frame and slide.
LtBlue, Ruger told us months ago that we couldn't buy a 1911 this year on the range employee program till next year. Did they change that or Is there a second employee program?

Well. I'm still waiting. I did find out the other day that I'm next on the list to get one from my LGS. Maybe it will be less than six months from the release. Maybe.
