SR9 decision...
So i finally scored a new Stainless Ruger SR9..and then I see the OD Blackened slide SR9 at a gun shop that is a good bit cheaper. They both have the "D" shaped magazine release so they are the most updated pistols. Just wondering which one people prefer....
Just curious what people think. I am damn excited about the purchase either way :)
I like the OD. I own stainless one. I bought my SR9 when it first came out so the OD wasn't out yet.

Eh... I guess i need to take that for asking about gun color preferences...

There's no shame in having a color or finish preference. You buy everything else in the color you want... why not your firearm?
Between the two choices you mentioned, I would opt for the OD/Black. I never have liked the Stainless/Black combo. But I know many who do. It's a personal preference thing. Buy and be happy with what you like. My SR9 is all Black.
Thanks, I decided to hold on to the SS/Black. I think the Black/Black is the best looking of the three.
What are people using for holsters btw? I saw a Fobus for $20 but my current Fobus didnt quite impress.

I like the Blawkhawk Serpa as a range holster and a Crossbread SuperTuck for concealed carry for my SR9c.
I have the OD. I prefer it.
Yeah, I do like that OD model as well.
So the Blackhawk holster is nice, but after seeing a guy shoot himself in the leg because he curled his finger to release the holster..it has me freaked out. Any other Kydex holsters other than Blackhawk and Fobus?

Safariland, BladeTech, Raven, Comp-Tac.

fer fugs sake
I like the "Blackened" and the OD. Mine is one of the "First Run" guns that came with a knife, only Stainless available at that time. I'm looking at the SR9c, all black.
Black/OD is hotness.
BTW..I finally got to throw lead downrange with the new SR9 and everything went great.
I did some pre-shooting surgery (removed the gay ass magazine safety and cleaned out the striker channel) and i think the trigger is getting better all the time. I wasn't thrilled with my accuracy but it was blazing hot out there and my grip was all over the place because of the sweat.
The SR9 was a bit jumpy compared to a few other full sized 9mm I have shot recently, but i think that is more about getting the right grip on the pistol than the pistol itself. I'm sure I will settle in with the right thumbs forward handling to set that straight.
I just spent $19 on a Fobus and its decent..I have come to expect "decent" with Fobus and thats what i got. :)
How are other folk doing with their SR9's? I think I'm really going to like my new piece.

Not a fan of pistols that aren't black, silver, wood, or a combo of that.
But if you like colors go for it.
I really like my SR9c.
Crossbreed holster for it is awesome btw.
So just an update on the SR9.
Had a chance to take it to the range twice now, and its starting to be a fav of mine. The trigger has really worked itself into a smooth pull. I did a bit more polishing of the contact points after a full break-down. The accuracy is much better than I thought it was giving me, it just shows that the shooter is usually the problem.
My one fear about buying the SR9 was the manual safety (hate it) but I don't even remember its there and never engage it. I have been riding high with my grip and not having any issues with the safety getting in the way on my hand either.
I think the SR9 is a winner. I know they had problems out of the gate, but this "3rd Gen" Ruger is flawless for me. about 750 rounds so far, which is not alot but its ran great. Buy with confidence if you are in the market for a full size 9mm with slim grips that's $400.

The safety seems to be located unusually far to the rear.
Is that the case? Is the safety at all awkward to disengage?

One of the reasons I am SO fond of the SR9c is because the controls (ie safety and mag release) are just like my 1911. That was actually what sold me on the SR9c and why I like to shoot it so much.

Initially, looking at the picture, things somehow seemed to be somewhat out of proportion ... but now, yeah, that makes more sense.
