Took the wife's LC9 to the range yesterday.
The wife got her carry permit so I bought her an LC9. She has shot many guns before and handled a few more at the shop. She decided that she liked the LC9 the most due to it's size and an external safety. She is going to purse carry this gun so I felt a thumb safety was appropriate.
So we get to the range and fire around 150 rounds of Winchester white box and Hydra shocks. everything functioned flawlessly. The wife handled the gun very well even with it's decent recoil. I only shot one mag out of it as I wanted her to get acclimated with it.
The trigger isn't bad. It's a DAO but it's not too long or heavy. It has a loaded chamber indicator that you can't miss, some folks like that. I'm indifferent about it.
I would recommend this gun any day of the week. I got it for $369 at my local shop. My only gripe is that it only came with one mag.

Your experience mirrors mine. I have 500 + trouble free rounds through it and it is now my "office carry" .
Which wife?
I just picked one up and ran 100-150 rounds through it.... awesome little gun. Mine runs flawless as well.... I throw mine in a Desantis Nemesis and chuck it in a cargo pocket..... really impressed with it so far..... I was a little disappointed in only one mag as well. Would have gladly had another mag instead of the nifty little bag they include with it....

+1

Just bought one a little while ago. Gave $350 + tax. Was surprised the first time I chambered a round and that great big damn chamber indicator popped up. I swear I can see it in the sights when I look through them. Just a little, but I can see the tip. Wish there was a mod to make that disappear.
Otherwise it feels pretty good. Trigger is kind of gritty but I have not gotten to clean it yet. I will before firing. One thing I did notice is that while cycling a magazine of Speer Gold Dots by hand, the tip of the bullet was catching the feed ramp and stopping the slide from going into battery. Don't know if that will be a problem or not. Will see when I fire it. I may hit the feed ramp with a dremel before I take it out.
Have not gotten to shoot it yet, but I did get to spend enough time in the garage with it to disable the chamber indicator tonite.

did you just drift out the pin holding it in. Or am I over simplifying it

Exactly. Then I filed off most of the bump that contacts the casing, then put it back on. It barely moves when a round is chambered.
Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the thread. I been looking for good positive reports on the LC9. I really like it's looks, but have not handled one yet.
I purchased one Tuesday and fired it today along with a new sig p238. The Ruger is sweet. It fed and fired everything I put through it. The LC9 will become my EDC as soon as my new holster arrives.
My brothers and I bought my dad one for Fathers day.It shoots well but I felt the frame needed more checkering.
I picked up my LC9 last week and shot 150 rds of my reloads thru it. It shot ready well even the 115 LSWC. Anyone know best place to get extra mags without paying an arm or a leg for them.. What holster are you guys using?

My Wife keeps hers in her purse.

Cheapest mag I found was at Midway. And I use a Desantis pocket holster(also got a pocket mag holder for the extra mag, fits my single stack 45 also), or a generic pancake leather clip holster for IWB(when I feel this is best). The generic holster fits better with my LCR but in a pinch the LC9 fits.
I love my LC9 but people shouldn't be mislead, just becasue it's small doesn't make it more suitable for woman; quite the contrary really. It's lightweight leads to some pretty stout recoil, in 9mm relative terms. It is not for the new and/or inexperienced shooter. Just my .02.
I've been considering picking up one of these. I'm skinny and have trouble concealing my G19 in the warmer months and I refuse to carry anything smaller than a 9mm.

No.....a 5 shot 38 special is not a gun for a new shooter. The .38 is the most common gun that gunshops try to push on women and new shooters. The LC9 is a pussycat in the recoil department compared to them.

Agreed.

You guys think a .38 has more felt recoil than an LC9? Wow. Perhaps you are referring to a lightweight Ruger LCR or S&W Bodyguard, I haven't shot one of them yet but can imagine they have a bit of a bite to them.

My S&W 637 has much more felt recoil than the LC9

I have 21 years in the military and am not recoil sensitive at all. I hated shooting my S&W 642. My LCP has more felt recoil than my LC9.
My LC9 is a pussycat compared to my 642. A lot more fun to shoot.
I'm not trying to argue, but I was just wondering if any of you guys have done a side by side comparison of a .38 vs. an LC9. I did just last weekend because I had my girlfriend out shooting for the first time, and I'm not recoil sensitive at all, but paid close attention that day because I wanted her to shoot the more milder of the two, after shooting a bunch of .22LR. The .38 was fired out of my Ruger SP101. I was using WWB ammo for both, and with these 2 setups, there is NO comparison, the LC9 has almost double the felt recoil as the .38 out of the SP101. Perhaps this is due to the heavier weight of the SP101 which is chambered in .357, I don't know, but the recoil difference is quite obvious.

Recoil of a .38 in an SP101 and a lightweight revolver are two totally different animals.

That's why I asked earlier if you were referring to a lightweight or not. Going back I realize now that you were. Glad we cleared that up.
