Kimber Eclipse II finish issues what to do?
Just got a Kimber Eclipse II NIB. One issue the slide and frame finish is off
to a degree. Can this be fixed? I am picky bastard to start with. The finish mismatch
is on the polished sides. The left side of the pistol frame and slide match well, but
on the right side, the frame and slide are mismatched. Has anyone else had finish
issues with their Kimbers? How would the factory correct this? I have not called
them yet. I have 4 other Kimbers, love'em. Great product

Only issue I have had is that it scratches easy and Kydex holsters are very unforgiving on Kimber's finish. If they could just use Glock's finish now that would be perfection ! Serously though if you are not happy with yours contact Kimber and ask them about correcting it.
The Kimpro finish is rather thin and will scratch easily. I recently sold my Eclipse for the sole reason that it sat in my safe more than being used because I knew the finish would eventually wear through much earlier than any other 1911 I own. Even the new Solo has a thin finish. I guess if you want to retain the factory look, call Kimber and see what they are willing to do.
