I've got a tactical custom II that will be here in a few weeks and i can't wait but i've never really heard much about them. Looks to be a good quality pistol from what i've seen. Any opinions or experiences?

Yep, got one, too. Haven't shot my TLE-II in nearly a year since I got it.

Very good shooter and good looking too. Only have about 2000 rounds fired in mine, but it is very accurate and fast. Does not care for Wilson mags, but runs 100% on Tripp and Kimber mags.

went and put 120 rounds through it today with one malfunction. other than that it was a very good thing to have a 1911 that didn't jam at least once a mag. the stoppage was a fail to feed where the round went up into the top of the chamber and got stuck. when i went to drop the mag it went into battery. mag related? it was the stock kimber mag and it was flawless with the wilsons. overall i am very happy and it may be my new favorite pistol.

Everyone likes to blame mags because they are not part of the gun and brand specific but I run every mag under the sun and have no problems. I have a star mag that is so old it barely has any spring pressure on the last round, still runs fine.

All firearms issues deal with a window of tolerances, so your mag could have contributed to the malfunction however there are other things going on, the problem is at 120 rounds you will have no idea what they are.

Strip, clean, and lube the gun properly, then run 1000+ rounds through it. If there are repeated malfunctions you can diagnose them, you can check the pistols timing based on metal wear, you can tune your extractor based on ejection pattern, etc.

I posted these pics before to prove a point, it's not about abuse, it's about reliability. 1911's require a little more attention then other guns but know what you are looking for and they will run like a champ. This gun has 2700 rounds through it with no cleaning at all, and had 2 FTE's that were a result of a damaged mag follower that was replaced. It's round total is in excess of 10K rounds in a year and a half with a total of 4 failures.

i see no unusual wear and it ejects like it should. i had no problems with the wilson mags so i may stick to those and see if i have another malfunction.

It is, that one is the Pro Aegis II 9mm with a custom bobtail and a C&S trigger. I have a Pro Tactical II in 9mm as well, also runs perfectly, then I have and SVI 9mm and STI 9mm, all run great.

M4gerySBR, thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting one in 9mm and was wondering how they ran.

Love my Tactical Pro II. With Wilson 47Ds it has performed flawlessly for me.

I have a Tactical Pro II, when I first got it it would fail to go into battery about 10-15% of the time, extremely annoying to say the least, sent it back to Kimber and they adjusted the extractor, so far it has been flawless for about 300 rds. I am really pleased with Kimber's customer support in getting Kim back up and running like she should. I guess I had no idea that the extractor could cause those kinds of issues. I'm just glad to have confidence in the pistol again and can use it as my daily carry.

I love my Tactical Custom II. I bought it used and had it about a year. It shoots great, never a malfunction, comes w/ night sights. Did I mention accurate?

I do not have another more accurate auto pistol. I wouldn't ever sell this gun.

This is one of the best guns I have ever owned. Never one FTF. Love me some Kimber.
