I just picked up a pair of CT laser grips and need to lose the ambi thumb safety

Having never done it before, is it relatively easy and something I could do, or is it a gunsmith job?

Thanks

I have the same gun and installed the CT grips. I thought I would have to dremel the safety (I'm left handed so I didn't want to remove them) but mine functions perfectly without alteration. Safety doesn't go done as far as before but definetly snaps and stays down with no issues. Lots of .45 rounds fired through it along with hundreds of .22 with the conversion kit. I totally trust it without mods.

Well, I got lucky on mine. You can go to the Kimber store site and look under 1911 parts and accessories and you will find the bobbed right safety for use with laser grips. They have them in stock for about $22.00. You should be able to install the safety yourself. Not to difficult if you know how to disasemble your gun. Look under the springs and small parts link and you will find it. Good luck.
