Just got a Ultra CDP II.... Anything I need to look out for or know?
Just bought my first 1911 pistol ( Ultra CDP II) and will be picking it up Tuesday... Is there anything I should know about this pistol before hand, I have seen a few horror stories. Also, do they come with more than 1 mag? Thanks!
Yeah lots of Kimber horror stories out there. Mine shoots without a problem so far but I've only put a couple hundred rounds through it. Mine only came with one mag. I think the worst thing about Kimbers is their tear down method.
Nice pistol but they will eat recoil springs. Thankfully, they aren't expensive and you can get them in 5 and 10 paks from Wolff Springs. Generally excepted to replace every 500 to 750 rounds. Enjoy your new gun, I'm a little jealous.
When you release the slide, use the "slingshot method". Dont use the slide release. Mine was have failure to feed the 1st round using the slide stop. When I called Kimber, they recommend not using the slide release on the Ultra's due to the shorter spring. Pull the slide back and let go. No problems since then.
When shooting, make sure your mouth is fully closed ie. don't put a piece of spent brass open end out between your lips. The concussion will ring your head from the inside out. Yes I speak from experience, ow.
My wife's Ultra CDP feeds well from the Kimber mag but doesn't like wilson mags.
Yes only comes with one mag.
Great gun! Congratulations. Get 500 rounds through it and enjoy. Good choice.
