I read Kimber Solo would only effetively shoot 124 grain..........
I read Kimber Solo would only effetively shoot 124 grain high quality HP ammo. Supposedly it says this in the literature with the gun. The tester had tried other ammo and had numerous malfunctions. Seems Kimber stated because of the weight of the slide it needed the heavier weighted bullet to lock up properly.

so what about 147g ammo then?
It didn't mention the heavier ammo just the 115 grain stuff was causing the problem. They also mentioned high quality ammo including HPs should be used.

What tester... Or who rather?
It was reviewed on Average Joes on the web. He had links to two you tube videos. One was supposedly an engineer for Kimber telling about the gun and recommending high quality 124 grain HP's.

I read that too, that Kimber states that the Solo 9 should only be shot with 124 gr. High Vel. , or you could expect malfunctions. I guess range time with the pistol will get might expensive.
One thing that I did not like on the Kimber Solo is the ambi. slide release. That button the right side of the pistol grip is just a bit too close to the trigger finger for me. IMHO

The Solo has an ambi thumb safety, mag release and single sided slide catch. No ambi slide catch that I'm aware of unless people are already making aftermarket parts for it. The ambi mag release is suppose to be pretty positive and like any ambi controls, it will have a 50/50 opinion about them. At least they made it lefty friendly.
BTW, here is a guy shooting 115gr ball ammo with zero issues.

Only thing I read was to break the gun in with 2-3 mags of 124gr ammo but I'm not even sure thats true.
The paperwork from Kimber that I got (and everyone else who gets one) states that 124 gr or higher ammo is recommended. There are a couple of specific 115gr: Federal Eagle AE9DP, Hornady Custom JHP/XTP 90252, Winchester USA USA9JHP, and Speer Lawman FMJ 53615.
Just shot 50rds through the solo without a hiccup. Used 115gr Speer Lawman ball. Right behind me 3 other people shot another 50 rounds with the same results. The gun cycled just fine and locked back on empty like it should. The gun was shot right out of the box with the 115gr. I don't think Kimber put that recommendation there because the gun won't run 115 grain. But perhaps because it runs higher grain ammunition a little more efficiently. Kind of how I would prefer a steak, but a hamburger will work too.
Glad it worked well. Don't know about the Hamburger theory as I won't carry a gun thats not 100% reliable. There are to many out there that are. I hope the kImber is one of those.
