I have a Kimber Ultra CDP II using smooth Rosewood Kimber Grips because the original double diamond grips snagged on everything and were starting to delaminate. Now the smooth grips are delaminating in just 6 months of occasionally carrying. I'd like to put a Wilson Combat slim magwell, redish colored grips, and at the least flush grips; preferably with a magwell cut. Any advice, links, and pics would be nice. Thanks in advance.

I asked a similar question re: my Kimber Custom II recently. I just bought an extended magwell on Brownell's (an Ed Brown one) it was quite easy to swap out. I would recommend a main spring housing pin tool and the appropriately sized punches if you haven't taken a 1911 completely apart before.

I put kimber magwell grips on it which I believe are the the same grips that come standard with the tactical II custom. They are sort of ugly, but I like the way they feel. Brownell's should have everything you need and even youtube videos showing how to do it.

Unfortunately I can't find any grips for the Ultra. The problem is that the Ultra has the officer length grips (short). The Pro and the Custom have the Government/Commander length grips (standard).

I have heard these are good and are offered in officer size: http://vzgrips.com/gun-grips/1911-pistol-grips-1

While not the same Kimber, my Ultra Tac II has a magwell. I went with Mil-Tac
Here are the diagonal version on the gun

Hope this helps
