Broke Kimber
Talk about a death trap!!!
So the pin is loose and basically locks the thumb safety up. WTF is that about? Never had this happen, and now I really feel I can't trust this pistol, even after it gets fixed. Now what? I only have about 1000 rounds through it, last 500 in the last few months though the gun is about ten years old (5 years in a safe while I did my time in the Nav). My colt 1991 has triple that and never a problem.
Send it to the factory with a detailed description of the problem and most likely, they (Kimber) will fix it.
Plunger tube wasn`t staked good, needs restaking.
This isn't all that uncommon, even on a newer pistol. It's also an easy fix and should be covered under Kimber warranty. It's just one of those things that can happen to 1911's. Seriously, get it fixed and don't worry about it.
So I'm finding out. I still think it is lame, especially for a newer 1911, though mine is not.

Na, its not a big deal man. You could fix it yourself with a little time and skill.
Its a piece of machinery, shit happens. Although it always seems to happen to kimbers....

I would agree seeing how I have a Colt with triple through it and of course it happens to the Kimber. Though the bulk of the posts I found on the web seemed to be for Colts and Springfield...
Lol I feel torn, like it has let me down and I now I got to cast it aside even though I love'em. Time to pick up the Sig till that one breaks...

Would you cast aside a car if a battery cable corroded through, or would you just fix the thing and move on? Try logic over emotion. If it bugs you so much that you can't mentally get past it, go get a Caspian frame with an integral plunger tube. This is an easy fix, and once fixed, will most likely last forever as 150 rounds/year average is nothing.

I feel you, I am gonna take to a smith on Thursday and test it out. But I am still disappointed that something broke with such a low round count. It's a tool, I expect tools to work for an expected amount of time before replacement.
I had the same thing happen on my Warrior. Happened within the first 600 rounds. Took it to my gunsmith and had it "re"-staked and hasn't caused me any trouble in 5k rounds.
It's fixed, gunsmith said Kimber barely had it staked at all. Looks and feels good, actually better now. I think it had been loose for a while.
If your going to buy many 1911s its a good idea to get a plunger tube stake tool from Brownells. I've never had one come loose but after seeing properly staked tubes I realized none of mine where as well done so now any time I get a 1911 I use the stake tool on it and can see a significant difference before and after inside the frame. It seems factory staking is not done as well as it should be from any company.

Yeah I'll pick one up just to have, never know when I'll need it again.

..................... stuff happens. It's a simple fix, get it done and move on.
