fuctions great, just looks a little odd to me. :

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yep - it appears to be normal. My factory mags all do this, in both .44 and .357.

Yes, I believe that it even states in the manual that it should stick out that far.
Regardless, the frame and magazines all have the same outer dimensions so it's not a "mix and match" fitment problem.

Yep, mine do the same. I think it says in the manual that you shouldn't put any upward pressure on the magazine when shooting (with your non-shooting hand) as this may cause failure to feed.

Thanks, guys, for the timely replies to put my mind at ease. Like I said, I'm new to D.E.s
Next Q: Is the 908XX sn correct or compatible with the 1/91 date on the mag?

I have a mark iiv 44 DE and all the 44 mags work fine. You should get a few extra for going to the range.

Thank you.
This cannon runs just fine with this mag.
My question was, Does the date on the mag 1/91 "fit" with a .41/.44 DE in the Sn range 908XX?
I got this piece used with no provenance and I know nothing about it.
Its definitely not second hand, probably more like 4th 5th or who knows how many hand!

When I bought my DE50 back in 1995 that was a problem I found out the hard way while blasting it at a local range. I do not believe it was even listed in the manual at all, that I could not cup, with my non-firing hand, the bottom of the magazine. I soon found that supporting the bottom of my mag was causing all kinds of jams and failure to feed the next round. From the "floating magazine" I had to call tech support to find out what was causing me the havoc, as I was baffled and pissed off. Once I found out that was the problem, there were no more issues.
