Ammo for a .44 DE?
Is there any issues with using commercially loaded ammo that isn't lead in this pistol? I know that they can be finicky.
Any help would be appreciated.
I wouldn't use any ammo with too much exposed lead that's for sure. Sometimes the bullet shape would also cause misfeeds. You pretty much have to experiment.
Basically any "hot" loadings will satisfy the Eagle since wimpy stuff will cause stovepipes.
I've shot 240gr Starfires, 240gr Hydrashoks, 240gr Rem JHPs, 300 XTPs...no problems.
Took it out today and fed 50 rds of AE 230gr JHP through it...not a hiccup.
Thanks for the advice.
Mine runs fine with every jacketed 44 mag I've ever fed it. Never a jam.
I have been shooting the 240gr Hydroshocks thru mine, never a problem.
To update my last post.... I just set up my progressive loader and loaded 20 rounds of 240grn Hornady jhp's, with 23grns of 296 - they shot beautifully so this is now my new favorite load!
