If I have a V1 and a V2 and I install an HK ambi safety on both, mechanically it is the same pistol correct? I found a V2 someone is trying to unload and I prefer the ambi safeties on these guns so I am thinking about it. I am right handed obviously.

Disassembly Vid

At 3:56 he starts to take it apart and 6:51 he pulls the safety out.

I am comparing this V1 to this V2 to this Ambi

It appears to be nothing more than were the lever is located.

If you install an ambi safety/decocker on both pistols they would technically be the same.

Doesn't matter what variation the gun comes as.
Any USP variation can be switched to any other variation. HTH
