P30V3 and P30SV3S?
Whats the difference?
ETA: Is the P30s the size of the P30 or P30L?
"S" model has ambi-safety
More questions in OP
Get the regular P30 (or the L model if you can

).
I only like external safeties if they are part of the decocker (ie USP v1).
Having a safety lever and separate decocker seems like unnecessary complexity to me.
I like the idea of having the decocker on a SA/DA with a safety. I also like the positioning of the controls. The only downside I see with the P30 is the lack of pre bans.
I normally carry a G23 and would rather have a P30 instead of a P30L size.
However I was told by one distributer that the P30s is a P30L with a safety.
I own a P30S in .40 the P30s it has the safety, the P30 has no safety but still has a decocking lever, the P30L is a long slide version and I believe they also have a P30LS version. All the P30's I have seen have a decocking lever. Hopefully this helps
Kind of. My main question now is are Thier 2 versions or one? P30S and/or P30LS?
The only difference in the L and the standard size is the barrel and slide. The grip and everything else is the same. HK USA's website has the exact down to the minute measurements of each gun.
Thanks that was my concern. I am on my phone so comparison is hard. Basically if I like the grip on one I'm good to go. Now I need to find a place with one in stock.
Ordered one from these guys Tuesday.

Iv been looking at them for awhile Id like to know how your experience with them goes. Thier price is about the same as other company's MIL purchase price.
I called them and ordered over the phone. It was a pleasant transaction so far.
Seemed to be a family ran business to me. I will post a thread on it (Here ) in the H&K forum when I get the weapon home. Possibly Fri-Sat.
List of P30 models:

Get the 730901L-LE P30S Long Slide with Ambi Safety in 9mm
Im going to try to get my hands on a long slide and a standard and see which I like best.
734001LE‐A5 P30S, DA/SA w/ ambidextrous safety and decocking button
or
734001L‐LE P30S Long Slide, DA/SA, w/ ambidextrous safety and decocking button

If the gun will be a carry the Long Slide will work if your going IWB, since the extended slide will not be that big of a problem since it will ride down your backside and not interfere with anything.
If your going OWB then the standard size P30 with the smaller barrel will work in keeping it concealed under a shirt or jacket.
I'd opt for the Longslide, more uses all around, IWB carry and range use, plus I think it just makes the gun look better, something wrong with a fullsize grip and a short barrel.
If I get a P30s Ill swap the barrel for a P30L. I cant find anyplace that has either model in stock. Im also going to look at several models of USP including the P2K and P2KSK. I guess H&K isnt to popular in KS

snaggletooth1925 the pistol I ordered from Nelson arrived today.
It was a perfect transaction from start to finish. Will start a thread when camera is charged.
Thanks Ill keep a look out for it!
Another thing is that another difference between the p30 and p30s is the slide release lever is a little longer on the p30 ( non-safety model)
Going for my KS permit tomm. I don't have any handguns here and the range where the live fire will take place has a P30 and 9mm USPc. I'm thinking of renting the P30 for the class.
Shot a P30 for the first time today for my KS CCW class. Its a great gun with amazing ergonomics. To bad it was a 9mm standard model instead of a .40 S model. Im thinking of getting a standard P30SV3 and add a P30L barrel.

Its a mean little gun for sure. Thinking of picking one up by summer time if funds permit
I have no experience with the 9mm version but the 40 is wonderful, I use it as my carry gun. I am thinking of getting one in 9 to use at the range with 9 being cheaper on ammo. I think you will be more than happy with it in 40
IV been debating 9 & 40 I'd like 9 for the price of ammo and recoil but I'll be taking it to NY so I'd rather have 10rds of 40 instead of 10rds of 9mm.
Yeah I know alot of people hate 40 cal but in my experience I really like it ! I usually go to walmart and buy the 100 packs their not too bad on price. $30-$36 a box.
