About that hump in HK45 trigger guard...

Anyone tried reducing it?

It's really an annoying thing that serves no purpose that I can see.

Even just breaking those sharp angles on the groove would help a lot.

Any idea what HK put it there for in the first place?

It's cold in Europe, it keeps the edge of a glove from getting stuck under the bottom of the trigger.

Seriously?

This forum needs a "face palm" emoticon.

That's the reason I've been told as well. If your glove is so large that it compresses and wraps around the trigger, it would wedge itself in there.

What's so "face palm" about that? You bought an over-engineered gun?

I don't know why and what problems people are having with the HK45.

I have never dropped the mag when I didn't want to.

I have never pinched my finger.

Or anything else. The hump is a great Idea, because if you ever wear gloves and shoot then you are golden. I also don't understand where people are getting this pinch from, or where their trigger finger is when it happens.

Ditto. I read the Larry Vickers article on how HK ruined the original HK45 design and the hump is one of the things mentioned. People talk about how it sucks and how it pinches their finger. I for the life of me can't figure out how. I've even purposely dragged my finger across the bottom of the trigger guard while shooting and it's never hurt or pinched or anything. I really don't know what people are talking about.

There is a smith that's been talked about on here that has a "vickers package" that cuts the hump out and trims the mag release and does some stapling to the grip but I dont remember his name. I wanna say it was around $300

Never had my finger pinched, and I like the mag release and firmly believe it should be the world standard instead of that 100+ year old button.

What those grooves in the trigger guard do is hit the bottom of my trigger finger under recoil (I presume, would need slo-mo video to confirm) and I end up with my finger having a spot rubbed pretty raw after 100+ rounds.

So I guess you can put me in the Vickers camp on this "feature".

I'm going to try breaking the edges with some fine abrasive paper to see if that helps.

I have never been pinched and love the mag release. The gun rocks in every way, except the cost of .45

I know right, I just buy cases of 1000 rounds every so often.....it is expensive, I can't bring myself to tally up how much money I have spent on 45acp rounds and my firearms. I am sure it is almost over 4 figures at this point.
