HK Expert fiber optic front sight.
Hello,
I have a 40 cal HK Expert. I have been shooting steel challenge and run and gun with it. I have painted the front sight with orange paint to give a little contrast and it helps pick up the front sight. I want to put a fiber optic front sight on the pistol. I see Dawson Precision has a .280 high front sight. From different web sources they state the stock front sight is 7.02 mm and others state 8.9mm. That is a big variance. The 7.02 = approx .276 in and the 8.9 = .350. Does anyone know the exact height of the stock HK Expert front sight? Anyone running a fiber optic front sight on an Expert?
Thanks,

I called them a few weeks ago and had them make the .280 tall front sight that you found on the web site for an Expert that I had. I assumed that the USP and the Expert shared a common dovetail, so I just told them to make me a .280 tall by .110 wide fiber optic front USP sight, which is what ended up on the web site. When it arrived, the dovetail of the sight was just a hair too big. I used a small, fine, triangle file and took a few thousandths off of the rear face of the dovetail, and it fit just fine. So I'm not sure if the USP and Expert don't actually have the same dovetail, or if the sight was just a little over-size, but regardless, I made it work, and I am MUCH happier with it. It really changes the sight picture for the better, and will make your Expert more shootable in the action sports.
Razzman,
Thank you, thats what I need to know.
