 "new" P30L

Just brought home a P30L and learned about the date codes. It's marked AK so it was proofed in '09. Is there anything I should be worried about seeing as how my "new" HK has been sitting around for 2 years? It's in good condition (NIB you might say haha), no wear that I can tell, and still has some of that thick preservative grease I hear that HK likes to throw on.

Thanks!

I don't think I would worry too much, it's one of the best autopistols made these days.

Very common and not just with H&K. Smith & Wesson used to keep guns on the shelves in the factory sometimes for 5 years or more before they sold and shipped...no problem at all.

Be sure to give your P30L a thorough cleaning before you head to the range. It's a great pistol.

If you like yours as much as I do mine, you'll be very, very pleased.

Yup, nothing wrong with it sitting for awhile before being sold. It's not like buying a New car where you expect to buy a car that was made this year. I've seen some guns sit in a dealers safe for years before being sold. I wouldn't let a '09 date code worry you at all or even a '03 date code for that matter. NIB means just that, New In the Box.

Do people seriously care about this shit? Really?

My P30L is marked with AK and I couldn't care less. Seriously, new is new even if it's been sitting on a shelf.

Nothing to worry about.

Welcome to the sickness and dark side.

Keep an eye on her as she'll multiply when you're not looking.

They do if they may want to sell it. I buy a new gun once every couple months and I sell the ones that don't keep me interested. If I buy a NEW pistol that was made 2 years ago, keep it 1 year and then try to sell it, I'm now selling a 3 year old gun that's used.

The vast majority of people I've sold my guns to are not hardcore Operators like so many HK fans. They are average joe shooter that thinks it a cool gun, wants to feel like they are getting the better deal and only shoot once every couple of months.

That said, I just bought my P30L a month ago new and also was made in'09. At first I asked a similar question but after a lot of shooting with it I realized I won't be getting rid of the p30. In fact it has replaced my P226 tacops as my training & carry pistol.
