DE means Deutsche (it's made in Germany). Has to be on there for exportation per German laws. HK45 is the only one made in US. At least that's on my HK45 frame. HK45C is possibly also going to be made, but I've have not seen any yet. Just HK45s.

Interesting.

My HK 45 says "Made in Germany" on the polymer frame, and has all the correct German proof marks on the slide and barrel, but no "DE" on it.

It's an AI production block.

DE is a german marking. Some HK .45's are made in the states while some are not.
If your HK .45 does not have DE or Deutchland Insignia markings it was made in the US.

Here we go. The motherload of german markings

Not exactly true.

The DE proofmarkings became mandatory for all German made arms about half way through 2008. Early 2008 HK 45s were still made in Germany.

My HK 45 is a German Made pistol with the 2008 date code, has the Ulm "antler" proof mark and the "Eagle over N" German nitro proof marks, and says "Made in Germany" on the frame, and came with the green O-rings. American made HK 45s all have black O-rings. American made HK 45s also say "Made in USA".

I thought that was a given. I guess it's not so common knowledge. HK45s were originally made in Germany. They are now manufactured here in the U.S. (assembled from German made parts and US made frame and or barrels). You can still get the German made HK45 from a dealer that has old stock. My Tactical was made in '99 (KK) and does not have the "DE" marking, so it was recent if the importation/exportation law change.

As to the search feature........google is your friend. HKpro.com is a better source of info, since it's mostly HKs.

I was not implying that German made guns only had green O-rings.

That was just a running change in production and had nothing to do with where the pistol was made. All it does is point to early production dates.

DE simply means Deutschland/Germany and is mandatory since we implemented the UN SALW agreement. It is no proof mark and states only in which country a small arm or light weapon is made.
