Best Mag for Colt 1911 70 Series
I have had a used 70 series 45 acp in the gun cabinet fo almost 30 years. I fired it a couple of times and each time a stove pipe. I had one factory mag with it since I bought it used and the lips on rthe mag looked bent.. Today I bought 4 Wilson Combat Elite Tactical 47D mags. Hope this works. How did I do in selecting the mags????
You have an extractor problem, not a mag problem. Mags don't cause your pistol to stove pipe, they feed the rounds, not extract them. Check the tension on your extractor with a live round (remove the slide from the frame) and see if it holds it in place, and if not, you need to adjust it by bending it slightly inward until it holds the round with about 3-4 lbs. of pressure. As far as the mags go, Wilson mags are great.
Don't think of the purchase as anything but a necessary upgrade. Wilsons are top tier mags. Extractors are a relatively easy fix too.
As for mags, I buy Wilson. Also, I have converted all my other brands with Wilson kits.

I like the wilsons the best
I like Colt mags. Have some Wilson's 47D, KimPro, and McCormick mags that have also been good.

............. and the mags you choose are top notch.
Haven't had a single issue with Wilson Combat in my Series 70 Government Model
I recently upgraded my Wilsons with Tripp springs and followers, so I can now say I like them
