I have an older taurus M85, a 1989 gun that is in great shape. I can only find info about newer models, but I am wondering if it is +P rated. I have only shot 38 special out of it but would like to have +P in it when I carry it and not worry about it. Thanks for your time.

On the taurus website you can give them your serial number and they can tell you.

80's models were not +P rated the newer one's may be.

I actually found out the model by the web site by entering the serial #, but could not find info on anything but current guns, witch are all +P capable.

The 85UL I bought in 2005 was not +P rated.

I would assume it is not +P rated until you find solid evidence to the contrary.

I have one from that same time frame. They were not claiming it as +p rated when they were selling it. At that time few 5 shot .38spls were.
