How many here have kept the stock PT1911 internals?
Like the title, how many here have kept their stock PT1911 internals and how many rounds through without any problems related to the internals?
I'd like to know if anyone else is keeping their stock parts as well. I just bought a Tarus PT1911 and have yet to fire a single round through it (that's a story for a different time)
I've done a lot of research on this gun - Lazy has a running log of his 1911 from Tarus that is awesome

- and apparently these things are pretty much good to go straight out of the box. The biggest complaint that I've found concerning a Tarus 1911, is the company, (customer service) and not necessarily the gun.
On a side note I plan on replacing the stock ambidextrous safety for a standard one.
Not sure, but I'd change the hammer immediately if I got one..

NOOB!!!
Welcome to the site
You can no longer call me a fag for being an arfcommer.
But to get back on topic, my brother in law has one he kept all the stock parts in and it runs fine. He doesnt use it much, but it works for him
Not trying to jack the thread, but curious about something.
Are Taurus 1911's internally the same as other 1911's so as to be able to upgrade parts easily?
Thanks.
Terry
Thumb safety broke on mine 200 rounds in, replaced it with a extended single sided Wilson along with the slide stop.

Thumb safety on these seem quite common to be the first to go. Not really an internal part but good to know anyway. The sear, hammer and disconnector are the things I'm interested about.
I just changed most of the internals in mine to some springfield parts.
I did this to change the appearance NOT due to any internal parts issues, mine was getting close to 750 rounds with zero issues...
everything was interchangable except the right side ambi. safety lever I had to clearance out the safety notch in the grip because the keeper part of the safety lever( the small part the fits under the grip) was hitting the grip and wouldn't let it go fully into the firing position.
other thqan that it was good to go. 100 rounds so far and no issues with the springifeld parts..
side note: I did use the sear from the springfield too( they say it is better to keep the hammer and sear group together). and I had to use the taurus strut because the Springfield parts I bought didn't come with it.

The hammer is the reason I have yet to take my new 1911 to the range. I got it home, broke it down and started cleaning all the junk out of it when my buddy (NSW8148) noticed a small crack on the hammer. Took it back to Sportsmans Warehouse within the same hour of buying it to send it back to Tarus to be replaced.
That was 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping to get it back tomorrow (the guy at Sportsmans said it would be 1 to 2 weeks) but what I've read of Tarus' customer service warns me not to be too hopeful.
Well over 5k with mine, nary an isssue.
1200 rounds in mine and all the stock internals. No problems from mine.
Mine is completely stock, except for the grips. Added some double diamond walnut grips, mostly for cosmetic reasons.
The only thing I've replaced is the bushing with a Briley. I did tweek to grip safety to my preferance but for most I wouldn't have called it necessary. Shoots like a dream, so far no hiccups. I'll replace things when / if they break or wear out from here on. For the $525 investment I can't knock it.
I kept my stock. It has 792 rounds through it so far without a problem.
750+ rounds through mine. completely stock, NO hiccups. Love my Pt 1911!
So far, all stock parts and about 400 rounds in with no issues...except one FTE.
Stock except for the magazines because they had feeding issues. After market mags. No feeding problems.

Are you sure it was a crack or the MIM mark that is left when they produced the hammer?? If you look at all of the Taurus' 1911's out there unless the hammer has already been replaced it will have this mark. I know mine does and someone else on here a few months ago had the same issue/question about the "crack" on the hammer. ( although, if memory serves, it was after the first range session and about 300-400 rounds he noticed it.)
Something to think about,

Yep, could put the tip of a knife blade in there

Mines had over 1000 rounds with no issues except breaking my wallet on 45 ammo
Over 3,000 rounds (stopped counting) with no change of internals; original springs, etc.
Runs great.

No change in internals... put the 4th or 5th box of .45 ball through it today... so 200 or 250 rounds. Not much, but enough that I'm starting to really like how much pistol I got for the price.
Safety seems to be a key weak point but so far it's rock solid (and I'm watching it closely)
Everything is stock on my PT1911.
Only thing I've done is add a recoil buffer to it.
Have about 600 rounds through it.
It shoots great and straight.
I can even hit a 8" steel plate at 100 yards standing with only a verticale pole for support.
Suprised myself that I could do that.
I was averaging about 1 in 8 shots.

Only thing that I have changed on mine was the guide rod and plug for a GI length other than that its all stock at 2500 rounds.
Please delete.
My Dec 2006 (new) PT1911 still has all stock internals. No failures. 3,500 rounds and still ticking. Haven't even changed recoil spring although I have a spare standing by.
