I purchaed this 608 at a local fushow brand new in a box. Took it out 1st time shooting and with different ammo the shells would not extract, cylinder would not advance after each shot. Hell you couldn't even manually advance the cylindar.
Ok perhaps a manufactur issue. Opened a ticket with Taurus, paid the $27 shipping fee to retun back to them for repair. Had the firearm back in 1 week.
Took said firearm out to shoot and cylindar would not even close on any various types of 357 ammo, Steel, brass and all factory fresh. Pissed at this point. What happened to QC?
Contacted Taurus and they sent an RMA for the next day. FedEx picked up the firearm and shipped it next day back to Taurus. Gun was shipped back in about 1 week as repaired.
Checked cylider for clearance and look. Seems they replaced the whole cylinder. Loaded 8 rounds of quiality factory 357 ammo. Wow! loaded nicely and was smooth.
1 week later off to the firearm range. Shot 16 rounds thouth it. Time to reload. Reloaded 7 rounds in the cylinder and the whole cylinder popped loose from the frame into my hand. By this point the gun was almost part of the heap at the end of the range due to me not trusting it and furious it was worse than when I 1st sent it in. Was ready to chuck the remains down the range and call it a loss.
Looks like the end shaft of the cylinder had cracked or broken. I would not trust this POS unless it was tied to a string which would make it an 8 shot retriever if you threw it at somone.
I plan to call Taurus back tomorrow and request a total firearm replacement as I do not feel confident it it's ability to hold together. This gun would not be my 1st choice for personal protection.
I will keep you posted on the outcome of this disaster. Hoping someone there will recognize a lemon and replace it.
I'll try an post pics tomorrow of the broken shaft on the cylinder.
This post is for info only should you be considering one of these models.
UPDATE: Taurus as agreed to replace the firearm. Guess it was worse than expected and they decided they didn't want the thing shipped to them anymore.
We'll see once I receive it.
Update: 2 months later and still no gun. Have been calling them for weeks. Gun has been on backorder for a month. They tried to offer me a 4" model for my 6" model. No deal. Still waiting.

Should have taken the 4".
Of course I'd rather buy a 50 year old Colt or S&W rather then a new Taurus.
