So I'm thinking about getting a magnet to store a pistol under a shelf.

Like this

Any downside to this?

This is for a Glock, I don't care if getting it off quicly scratches it a bit.

I know I can't use it for my Glock 7 because it is all ceramic and non magnetic.

I want to do the same thing, but I wonder about the security of it. Are you the only one in the house?
And even if you are, suppose some teens break in and commit crimes with your Glock, would you be sued for not securing it.

Using steel case ammo may develop feed/eject issues...

A safe is only a delaying mechanism same as the lock on the door. So would you be sued if you had it in the safe without having it in a lock box?

But if there are laws on the books saying firearms have to be secured within a residence, it doesn't matter.

It might be a good way to store your concealed carry piece once you get home.

This is for the people who actually don't carry inside their house.

No trigger protection, meaning something could get in there and cause a discharge. There are quality, secure holsters that can be mounted to hard surfaces.
