Which 9mm P226 aftermarket mags have you guys had luck with? I've always been a factory mag kinda guy but I figured that if anyone was having luck with aftermarket I'd give it a try.

Mec Gar=Factory (Go pull one of your factory guns and look at the side of the mags that came with it from N.H.,unless of course yours is an older, West German/German Model)

I was at one of my local gun shops the other day. They have a mag box of loose magazines, usually you find some beat up Beretta's etc.. I was looking for some Sig P228 mags, 15 rounders if possible, they had a used P229, we pulled it out, the mags looked exactly the same, same mag notch, etc. When we put them in the 229 some went in with a slight catch about an inch before fully seated, and some wouldn't go in without more force than should be required.

Anyone know if the P228s and P229s are compatible? Should be, as far as I know it's just the breech block that's different between the two.

Some new Sigs are coming with magazines made by Checkmate. Seems like they are trying to save money and going w a US made mag. There have been some problems with these mags. Make sure the factory mags u buy say made in Italy somewhere on them.
