Overly tight holster. What to do for better fit?
I just picked up a Ritchie Leather speed holster for my Sig 220 Compact and it's way too tight.
It fits my P225 perfectly, but is overly tight on the 220 to the point that I cannot draw it from the holster. What's the best way to loosen it up?
I recall that someone put some kind of lube on the interior of a Galco I once bought. He wiped it on the inside and told me to leave the pistol in it overnight with the lube and then wipe the pistol down the next day. That particular holster draws smoothly but still holds the weapons securely.
wrap pistol in plastic bag and put it in the holster overnight. Should stretch it out just enough.
I've been using a thin dress sock over the gun to stretch my holsters lately, works like a champ and doesn't take that long to do.

This.
Carry and use always worked fine for me... carry unloaded pistol in it around house, practice draws... it'll break the holster in pretty quickly.
Which gun are you going to carry in the holster. If you make it fit the P220, will it make it too loose for the P225?
A plastic bag or wearing it all day will usually fix the tightness.

+1
<––-some one who builds holsters:
oil the outside of the gun really good, cover in plastic wrap. Take the leather holster and steam it over boiling water until it darkens from the moisture then put the gun in it until dry. You may have to do this a few times, this will form it to the larger pistol. This will leave it too big for the other gun though...good luck.
I would just break it in the old fashioned way. When a year goes by and your pistol is flopping around in your holster, or at the very least noticeably lacking in the retention department, you'll be wishing for a little bit of that extra tightness you lost stretching it out.
I've used Galco Draw-ease in the past on the interior of tight leather holsters and it works as advertised.
