Searching high and low for the perfect kydex holster meeting my requirement of comfort, versatility, and concealment seemed to be an endless pursuit. It would seem to many that there is no holster that would meet all these requirements. Recently, I was contacted by Tony the owner of Secret City Weaponeers, a company known for leather holsters (as seen on the website). At first, I was curious as to why a leather holster company would contact me when I was specifically looking for kydex. Well long behold, Tony is venturing into the world of kydex. Knowing that the Kydex holster industry is exploding much like the AR industry, I was a bit skeptical thinking it was just like any other Kydex/Raven Concealment product. However, I was wrong.

The company name, Secret City Weaponeers derives from the location of the company, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a city that supplied enriched uranium for the World War Atomic bomb. SCW is in the process of finalizing plans for the K-25 holster. The “K” denoting for “kydex” and 25 degrees of cant for a VERY discreet IWB use.

Before anyone starts ranting that this is another copy cat of Raven Concealment (believe me, I thought so too), let’s examine the design that differs from Raven Concealment. Being optimized for IWB use, I could tell by the aggressive curve on the front end the holster that it actually hugs the body. Like many others, I have a problem with other kydex holsters “jutting” out of my pants. Anyone with RCS-like holsters know exactly what I am talking about ;) I prefer to carry my holsters at the 3 O’clock position, but in order to conceal, I had to carry at the 2 o’ clock position.

However, it proved problematic when I got into a car or sat down as the holster or gun tended to poke my ribs and stomach. With the K-25 holster, it just may solve that problem! With the curve, one can carry at the 3 or 4 o’clock positions. I have not seen a holster company that aggressively curves the front end holster like so. It appears the K-25 addresses this issue.

Another incredibly neat feature about these holsters is the ability to be used OWB. While the K-25 holster may be optimized for IWB use, Tony kept the platform versatile for OWB use as well. While he told me there were other “secret tricks” that he has shelved that could be used for the holster to aid in IWB comfort, he decided to shelve the “IWB secret tricks” to remain as modular as possible for the K-25 series. Sometime in the future, with enough requests, he will release a holster solely for IWB use that utilizes all these “secret tricks”. I asked him what these trick were…but being from Secret City Weaponeers, he wouldn’t disclose. The company name is very fitting

The holes are placed purposefully for OWB versatility. Tony adamantly favors MALICE Clips so that the user can wear the holster on a war belt. I remember having to jerry rig my holster to fit onto MOLLE. While it worked great, its great knowing that K-25 is designed so it is readily available for war belt use. Turns out, Blade-Tech MOLLE Loks work too!

Holsters are priced at $67.50, with synthetic IWB loops (they can be un-cut or pre-cut to the users desired belt width) Kydex OWB are offered as well for $7.50 in 1.5” or 1.75”. Colors come in either OD/Black two-tone or Black. Tuckable loops are NOT offered. If the user does want one, the holster can accept tuckable clips from other companies such as Comp-tac. Another huge plus in my book!
As of right now, Tony is only making these for the M&P 9/.40/.357 and Glock 19/23/32, right hand. The K-25 is designed to accommodate M&P’s with a thumb safety and in fact, Tony says that the holster will engage the thumb safety if the user forgets to. Nice touch!

In a few weeks, the Glock 17/22/31 and M&P 45, right hand will be added. No worries left handers! Left hand models soon will be added. Tony is a self proclaimed perfectionist, we all know it takes time to perfect templates for holsters. By the looks of the pictures…he definitely is.

**Note**
These kydex holsters aren't up on the website...yet...

EDIT: I have NO affiliation with this company. I'm just spreading the word on what looks to be a very promising product.

Website says they're $97.50, not $67.50.

I just re-read your post and saw you said the kydex holsters aren't on the website yet. The $97.50 ones are the leather ones they have. The kydex ones look nice!

Really nice looking holsters thanks for posting that...have a raven, but it doesn't bend enough really for my small waist band, so the curved front and back will help.

I have the same problem as you. 32-33 waist size. The RCS holster tended to stick out during IWB and OWB use...so much for concealment . But nonetheless, RCS is great stuff.

thevibe - same waist here, 32/33 even had raven adjust the last one they sent me for a smaller waist, but it still sticks out pretty bad. Love the holster otherwise, just too big. lol

This is what I've been looking for. Any chance that the Glock holsters could be made to cover the magazine release?

It's how my CTAC is built. I'm not worried about accidentally releasing the mag, but the extended mag release rubbing my fat.

Hello, fellas. I'm afraid I must take the blame for the holsters being discussed here.

I won't be doing any sales here, due to forum rules, but I'm told by the Admin that I can discuss the holsters, and answer questions. Feel free to post questions or comments here, hit me with a PM, or send me an email, to seraph@secretcityweaponeers.com, which I check religiously, many times per day.

no left hand option and can only choose between a smith and a glock for 70 bucks?
are the left hand models in the works or future plan?

Left hand M&P 9/.40/.357 FS begins shipping by this weekend. Left hand Glock 19/23/32 will begin shipping next week. As I'm only one guy, I have to spend my time taking care of the things that are in highest demand. I'm afraid that means that LH models will tend to be a little behind RH models, because LH requests are about 1 in 20.

Meanwhile, I'm working on getting Glock 17/22/31 RH, Glock 20/21 RH out in the next few days. Weapon light holsters, called Y-12, are following right behind that, with M&P 9/.40/.357 coming first, followed by Glock 17/22/31. With that started, I'll then go back and dish out K-25 in M&P 9/.40/.357 Compact, and some more LH models.

I've had some inquiries about K-25 holsters for HK P30. I had figured on covering that model, but I thought it would be more eventually than immediately. Peer pressure might move that up a bit...

Well, I admit it does take me a little while to add new models. Because of the way I construct my holsters, I have to make two templates for each model (and two more for left hand). I also have to obtain an actual pistol, for final fitting, and for tuning of retention/draw. It's both time consuming and expensive, and in the mean time I have to take and fill orders for existing models. I could change the way I make my holsters, to make it easier and cheaper to add new models, but then they wouldn't be as comfortable. One thing that people tend to say about the K-25 holster is that it's surprisingly comfortable, especially for a fairly rigid all Kydex holster. I don't want to give that up, even for the increased sales I'd get from a broader model selection.

My K-25 holster (and coming Y-12 holster) is already convertible from IWB to OWB, via the use of these Kydex OWB hard loops (actually, the ones my customers get have beveled edges):

I'm working on it, Hank. This week, I'm trying to put out Y-12's for M&P 9 and Glock 17, with TLR-1's. The 1911 will be a little while, because I'm going to have to get a railed 1911.

I don't have my hand son my Y-12 holster yet, but want to attest to the CS that Tony provides.

He offered to smooth the edges on another holster I bought from a different custom Kydex manufacturer, for free! Even shared some well kept secrets about the processes behind his holsters that shall remain secret.

Got a message from him today regarding the aluminum fasteners used to clamshell the two sides together. He had a failure reported, dropped the aluminum parts and replaced them with SS hardware. And it only increased the shipping delay by about 2 days.

Which still only brings it to one week from order to ship.

Will be doing business with Tony again soon in the future.

You'll never guess who else is in TN with a railed 1911.

Ahem.

Ahem.

Just thought I should point out something about the fasteners I'm replacing. They don't keep the holster together (the holsters are held together with brass eyelet rivets). They retain the screws that fasten IWB loops or OWB loops to the holster. A customer told me he found a problem with one of them, so I looked through all the ones I had on hand, and found another one. That made 2 out of 400, or .5%, so I decided to overreact and find some better hardware, which is now en route.

Yes, in fact, it was you. You and I are the only ones who've found a problematic binding stud, and I want to keep it that way. With the stainless steel ones, which I now finally have en route, the potential for the problem should be pretty much eliminated. The studs which I recently received were not as described by the distributor, and didn't have enough threaded depth to secure belt loops to my satisfaction. The ones which I've just ordered, straight from the manufacturer, are threaded right on through the head, which solves that problem as well. As a minor annoyance, they are silver in color, not black like the anodized aluminum ones were. Apparently, no one has ever before requested them in a black oxide finish, and the manufacturer is working up a quote for that option for me.

Same waist size range here. I've been using a DeSantis Scorpion (for a railed 5" 1911) for 5+ years now, and that curve was absent in mine too. I took off the belt clips and dipped the wings in boiling water and rolled some more curve into them.
