Cheapest decent 9mm ammo?
I just shot my newly purchased Glock 19 for the first time today and I am in need of some cheap, decent practice ammo. I'm an AR guy and not a handgun guy so I don't know a lot about whats good and what isn't. I shoot at an indoor range mostly, and they test ammo that's brought in with a magnet so no steel cased ruskie stuff for me
I have been thinking about the Blazer aluminum cased ammo, it appears to be hovering around $10/50rds + shipping though mail-order.
What do you guys think?
If you're not going to save/reload the cases, Aluminum Blazer is OK in my book.
You might try Copes or Wideners for a "bulk" buy. Copes has the advantage of essentially free shipping ($10 flat rate, so order a ton and it's still $10).
I have a glock 17 and i order from Bulk Ammo.com magtech its not bad 9mm 115g FMJ no issues and you get it fast good deals on 223
Winchester Ranger 500rnd. Case $124.99ea...
Here
Blazer
Sellier & Bellot is my favorite. I stock up on it when Cabela's runs a sale.
+1 for Blazer. Never had a problem with them in my G19.

Why are they worried about the fired cases penetrating anything? The steel case is ejected out of the gun from a seperate port than the barrel. It does not go down range with the bullet. Why are they SOOOO afraid of a steel bullet case?

Its not so much the case as it is the steel in the bullet, it just so happens that most if not all steel cased ammo has some steel in the bullet or jacket. I don't know a whole lot about it, except that the range puts up a big stink about it so I'm just trying to stay clear. I'll prob pickup some Tula or Wolf ammo for woods plinking when I get around to it, but right now I need to spend some serious time at the range because this is the pistol that I'm carrying on a daily basis.

+1
Another +1 for Sellier & Bellot
Sellier & Bellot is my choice for practice and plinking. I like to shoot and practice with 124gr FMJs and so far it's been the most accurate 124gr FMJ ammo I've shot out of my M&P9.
Never used Blazer aluminum so I can't speak for it. All I know is that it's pretty cheap.
Federal at Walmart.

All of the above are great choices. Someone had the Swiss Geco for around $200 shipped for 1k. That is a good price point - around .20 per round.
I would avoid the Remington UMC. My friend and I had trouble with the UMC in Glocks and Berettas. Seemed underpowered. Coulda been a bad batch (batches actually), but...

That's pretty cheap. Best offer for Geco here is 286.- Euro = 387.80 $ (without shipping).
BTW, it's still German ammo I think, even though RUAG Ammo Tech bought them a couple of years ago.
If you are buying just a couple of boxes WalMart or Academy will have the best prices. If you're buying in bulk, here are some useful websites to compare prices:

I've been shooting alot of the Swiss Geco 124 lately. It and Fiocchi are my two favorites, but my Glocks have no problems with any of the Russian stuff either.
Check out SGammo.com They have a great deal on 500 and 1000 round packs of 9mm. Also Winchester Ranger FMJ in 115 or 124 grain, or Fiocchi or Sellier and Bellot are all good.
I've not shot any, however, IIRC bigbore has commented that S&B is a preferred brand.
Here is a good deal from a site sponsor with $10 shipping
Blam
RWS/Geco 124gr FMJ 1000 for $200 shipped
Anyone here purchased from Weapons World?
Are they GTG?
I've bought from them with no problems.
Aguila 9mm 124gr FMJ $179.00/1,000rds+SH
The jacket on this all copper, no steel and it's brass case, boxer primed so you can reload it if you like.

Ordered a case of the RWS from Weapons World. I have used the RWS in the past and found it to be great ball ammo, so I decided to stock some.
I'll report back on how this transaction goes.

Can you please check it with a magnet and see if is bi-metal? thx!
I can verify that now.
I have a few boxes I purchased from Wally World a while back and they are indeed magnetic.
The description on their site even says so I do believe.
Not an issue for me.

TulAmmo from Wal-Mart. I have had 0 malfunctions using this ammo in IDPA. Of course I'm using a G19, so that may have something to do with it.
And no, there is absolutely nothing wrong with steel cased ammo.
here is a good deal on CCI Blazer Brass 9mm. With shipping it is around 212.00 to your door.. .21 cents per round is not too shabby these days..
Ill prolly order a case of 1000 here shortly..
Federal or Blazer brass from WM. Just took the kids out with my M&P fed a couple boxes through it without a problem.
surplusammo.com has good deals on S&B 115gr 9mm FMJ ammo.
Wal-Mart red box Federal 9mm is a decent deal and you can buy less than case quantities locally there.
115 grain Speer Lawman is a good choice, lots of other deals here too:
http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/pistol-ammunition/9mm-9x19
As long as you're not buying Amerc or Ultramax ammo you should be fine. PMC, CCI, Speer, American Eagle, Federal, WWB, UMC, S&B, Magtech, etc. should all be fine. Pick your poison. There's good deals to be had everywhere. While it's not like the "good old days" of $10 per 100rd. Value Packs of WWB at Wal-Mart, the 9mm ammo situation is looking pretty good these days. Lots of selection and people are starting to compete on price.
Roll your own

walmart - federal 115 gr, 100 round box, just under $20. I've shot lots of this stuff with no issues.
I know that range, and although they claim "safey" it's really about contributing to the owners brass fund. This range won't accept Blazer aluminum ammo or plastic european training ammo because they cause "jams" , "even in revolvers." It's all about the money.

I was going to warn you our indoor range won't let you shoot steel or aluminium because they don't want to seperate it out. So try to stay with brass.
I just bought a case of S&B I like. Doesn't take up much space and works well.

This is about all i keep in inventory now days for any shooting other than defense. My local WM sells out quick. I pass buy every couple of days, so i stop in. If they have it, i will buy 2 or 3 boxes. I have shot maybe a 1000 rounds with not one issue.
Brown Bear, steel-cased.
