USP: broken firing pin, slide wont return to battery
I'll upload pics when I get the chance, can't do it this week as I'm on a business trip.
Anyway, after I clean my handgun, I assemble it and dry fire it about 2 or 3 times to make sure everything is in working order. Well, the firing pin broke and I think I racked the slide back not knowing that the pin broke. As the slide was moving back to battery, it stops and all of a sudden it won't move more than maybd 1-2mm. Right now about an inch of the barrel is exposed, to give an idea of where the slide is. Half of the firing pin fell out from the rear, it is broken around the proximity of the firing pin block (right next to it actually).
From the rear, I can see what's left of the firing pin making a backwards D (D facing left), perhaps this would give you an idea of where it's at right now.
I've removed the hammer spring to relieve some of the pressure from the hammer. I've tried to wiggle the firing pin block around with a punch but with no success.
Anyone have any idears?
Thanks
When this happened to my USP I was able to use some kind of stick to push up the firing pin block from the back of the slide since it was locked pretty much all the way open. Yours sounds like it's just open a little bit, maybe you can get to it through the magwell/grip?
