hi, just picked up one of these. i checked everything out except one thing. after getting gun home, i noticed the hammer nose moved freely. i knew my bro-in-law had one so i checked his out. it moves but with spring tension. this one has no spring tension. it shoots fine. went to brownells to look at exploded view of parts. said this one was discontinued. now what?

anyone know where i can look or get parts for it?

thanks! if any of you do look for me could you also put a link up for me.

The S&W firing pin (hammer nose) is intended to move freely up and down.
Older guns had no spring, newer guns had a spring.
My Model 66-2 has no spring, my 66-3 has one.

S&W seemed to use or not use the spring with no special reason.
Some people have guns of the same dash version with different barrels lengths, one with a spring and one without.

Likely, nothing is wrong with your gun. It was probably one that never had the spring.
