I have a barrel which measures .578 at the bushing contact point , The barrel bushing ID measures .582 -.583 is this to much clearance ? I want to perhaps go to one of the spherical insert bushings (Briley ?) If I do they come in .578-.579-.580-.581-.582-.583 which one would the best fit ?gun will be used for IPSC shooting
TIA
Your bushing sounds ok as is. Are you having accuracy problems? If you order a Briley be sure to measure your barrel to determine the max diameter. It's very common for barrels to be slightly oblong and you want to make sure you have at least .001" clearance.
If your accuracy is good and the gun is reliable I'd leave it alone though.
ya way to loose call e.g.w. with your barrel od and slide id and they will make you a bushing and your group size will be cut in half cost about 30 bucks.

This is what I did. Measure your barrel diameter very carefully and order the next size larger bushing. This will be a close match which may require some minor hand fitting. This tight a fit is better left to target firearms rather than self defense.
