My money is a small 9mm kind of like the Ruger LC9 or maybe the Taurus Slim.

Personally, I am thinking a single stacked M&P.

You got the XDs, now the Shield.

I'll pick it up if it is as good as my M&P40s... but must be a 9mm. I wanted the Beretta Nano to work out, but it is on the same level as the Kimber Solo (specific ammo needs, which I refuse to purchase a gun like that). Not a fan of the XD line, but very happy with the M&P. If S&W does go that route, maybe Glock will take a hint. Just nice to have options.

I'm thinking single stack stuff.

Y'know, I keep seeing a trend here. People carry fullsize guns for a few years, then bitch and get new pocket guns. Then they bitch about the power in the pocket guns, and get small full-power guns. People bitch about the controllability and capacity, and get compact guns. Then people complain about the grip on the compact, and new fullsize guns come out.

And so we go.

For me. The single stack 9mm replaces the J-frame .38 that I need ONLY 1% of the time.

99% of the time I can carry a duty caliber double stack, from the time I wake to the time I sleep, in one of two carry systems.

I have that. It's called a Walther PPS.

Which has S&W engraved on the slide....it would make no sense for them to compete with themselves.

They are the importer for Walther nothing more. Heck they service and sell the Walther PPQ that competes directly with the M&P, you better believe that S&W will bring out a product that competes with the PPS.

I agree... hell, if the new gun looks exactly like the PPS, and they put a traditional domestic magazine release, I'd buy it. They can even engrave right over the Walther marks... don't care.

X2

I'd sell my CM9 in a heartbeat if S&W would come out with something comparable in the M&P lineup. No thumb safety, no mag safety, a 6+1 or 7+1 capacity, and the same sights as the other M&P9/40 models so we wouldn't have to wait for night sights to become available.

+2, but no CM9 to sell haha. But I doubt the single stack would have the same sights since the slide would have to be much slimmer on a single stack.

A 7+1 single stack 9mm M&P would be a perfect compliment to my M&P9c!

If they do that's fine. I'm sure it would be another good pistol in that range (which currently is lacking).

My only issue is if they choose to do a single stack on a full size slide like the xd that's coming out and like the glock that everyone is hoping for. Which I think is pointless.

A Glock 19 sized M&P would be nice, but the slim would be just as good.

I'm hoping its this. This is the biggest gap in their lineup...a smaller frame firearm that you can still get your pinky on.

Single stack......not worth it.

Because it is such a small market.

Nifty as a single-stack would be, I'd be surprised if they put a single-stack 9 in the M&P lineup. I'd expect them to extend the "Bodyguard" series with that kind of design.

Midsize or 10mm I see as a definite possibility.

(And for the 10mm haters: .45 slide and mags fit it, just need a barrel. No major redesign.)

As long as that design can handle the 10mm pressures.

That's what i'm guessing a Bodyguard 9mm, but why would they not have introduced it at SHOT?

I am gonna go with some type of non leathal option. Ruger just released pepper spray.

Maybe its a giant body condom to keep you safe until the cops get there

honestly i wouldnt want a single stack 9mm. the size difference is marginal at best. i dont own a m&p yet so it looks like ima have to wait til after they officially announce what the new product is before i make a decision.

The only way I get this new gun instead of the xds is if they do a pocket style m&p. 9 or 40 I don't care. I prefer 9 but I hate the walther mag release so I'm going xds
