Is $575 too much for a nice 66 no dash?
A guy at the gun show had a stainless, 2 1/2" Model 66 no dash with the factory grips for sale for $575. Trigger was nice with a tight cylinder lockup, and it appeared to have been carried or shot very little. I was mainly looking for a nice Model 3953, and since I wasn't sure about the price, I passed. No I'm wondering if I should go back tomorrow and see if he's still there.
Seems kind of highish to me but 2 and a half inch models do command a premium.

Yeah, I kinda thought so, but it sure was purty! I'm probably going back tomorrow as it was so crowded I didn't get to see everything, so if I see him and he still has it, maybe he'll come down.
Thx
I paid $400 for this-
With the box and tool kit.
Now, it's a dash 3 and that one you are looking at is a no dash, with a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder.
Does it have a box, paperwork/tool kit?
That's nice. No it didn't have box or papers. As for the pinned/recessed stuff, any advantage to that, or is it just desirable since they quit doing that early in the series?

Thanks
I really don't think that the pinned and recess means much, preformance wise, but it means alot to the collectors. You will always find the no dash guns are the ones that most collectors want.
I'm a shooter, not a collector, so if it's P&R, great, if not, I will not stop from buying it, if it's a good deal.

That does seem expensive. I bought mine in 1980 for about $325.00 nib––favorite gun ever––Stolen in NOLA 1986...
This one cost me $450 at a local gun show last year. However, it's a 66-5

I'm glad I didn't drop that much on it then. However, if it had been a 3" 66, I'd be posting pics right now.
I had a 6 inch 66 no dash. It had different grips, and no box/paperwork. I sold it for $450 to fund my AR build.
ETA photo.
No way I would pay that much for one. In fairness, I don't like the 2.5" M66s but that is high regardless.
It's a little high today. Who knows though. In two years you might look back and think that was a good deal. I'd say if it is THE GUN you really want, go ahead. I doubt you'll regret it.
Too much for me, but I bet he gets it. Nice guns, I had one, but not that nice,.
There is one in the EE for $725. Interdasting
