It is a good price.
I found the DAO S&W's to have a smooth, but short DA pull. The 59XX series are underrated steel framed guns, plus you can beat someone with them.
You did A-OK. I think I dropped in the same ballpark when I got mine. NYPD still offers them as a duty gun for their officers; that should give you some idea of their reliability.
Next trick: finding the straight grips for it. (I'm still looking for a set for mine.)
like mentioned, good deal.

How are the 'straight grips' different from the other grips?

It is the difference between having an arched vs. straight mainspring housing for the 1911. I have found that the arched grip fit my hand better.
Numrich has both for $24.

I googled it right after I posted. Thanks. I prefer straight mainspring housings on my 1911s, because I have smaller hands.

I had checked everywhere else I could think of, and they never occurred to me. Thanks for the lead.

Good deal for $350.
I was going to give y'all a range report today after a range trip to shoot my new-to-me 5946, Kahr CW9 with new Trijicon Night sights, and to put a few rounds through my KImber Ultra CDP II. Buuuuuut, the only range in my area, a public, indoor, 25yd, range with gunstore was closed for inventory.

Finally got to the range today and shot about 90 rounds through my 5946. Excellent weapon, sights dead on, no feed issues, love the trigger, but a little snappier than I thought it would be though. It may just need a new recoil spring. Now to clean it.
I have a 5946 TSW and as much as I would like to carry it for duty at work, I just can't shoot it better than my Glock 19.
The 5946 has class and if you can deal with the trigger (I can) then you can master the trigger on any auto.
My Glock has no soul
If Brownell's has them in stock, either straight or curved grips can be had for around $15 with the discount or $18 without...aaaand in checking they're out-of-stock.
Once you get your new grips you might try going lightly over the pistol with a green Scotchbrite pad, it will blend the small shiny spots and nicks and you'll have a pistol that looks practically brand new.
Nice pistol, congratulations.
