Convert 92FS to 92DS???
Hello, this is my first post here.
First off, let me say, great site. I have found a wealth of information on my ARs and AKs.
I'm hoping you can help me with my Beretta.
I have had a gorgeous stainless 92FS with Trijicon sights (made in Italian plant) for about the last 15 years. I bought it when I was in the Corps, and it is the only gun on my "never sell" list.
My ONLY gripe about it now, is I wish it were DA only. I don't know enough about the DA only components and slide. The question is, is it possible to convert my FS to a DS (double action only with slide mount safety.)
If it means swapping out the entire slide, probably not interested (as in my eyes it's just not the same gun anymore), but if there is a simple internal fix, that myself or a gunsmith can do, I am all ears. I'm not necessarily looking for a cheap fix, just one that doesn't significantly alter the gun.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance. Mike.

The DS models are rare. If you want to create one, replace the hammer and hammer spring with the 'D' model.
The 92D, and DS, is smooth, a bit long though. If you learned to shoot DA revolvers then you will have no issues with the D, or DS.
Replacing the hammer and spring still won't make it DAO. I believe you have to pull the sear. But, it may get complicated if you don't get a DAO slide (no safety at all).
I would join the Beretta Forum website and ask there

Removing the sear is not that hard to do.
The DS is DAO with Safety.
So, it sounds like ti can be done without serious swapping out of things like the slide, and if I brought it to a decent gunsmith, should be doable.
Thanks for the help gents.

As long as the Gunsmith is familiar with the Beretta, it is not an issue.
I'd leave the sear pin in the frame, if nothing else to cover the hole. Also, since the sear is not needed, you can remove the hammer release lever and replace it with a spacer pin.
