Which Beretta 92 has the full chrome lining? M9 or 92? M9A1 or M92A1?

I have heard there is a difference between the US and Italian models.

Is this correct?

If so, which one has the FULL chrome lining?

99% sure the stainless steel "Inox" model does not have chrome lined barrel. All the others mentioned do.

The Italian barrels usually have a ring of chrome exposed at the muzzle. The USA barrels do not.

Gotcha.

I will be sure to keep this in mind...

Does the lack of the chrome lining promote rusting.

All nonstainless models have chrome lining. Realize that the older blackened stainless barrels are not chrome lined. But, any CURRENTLY made, Bruniton covered 92 variant will all have chrome lining. The stainless ones do not. And, the stainless models typically build up a copper color inside of the barrel after a range trip or two. I've sometimes had a hard time getting that out, but it doesn't really matter.

Stainless can rust, as can a chrome lined barrel, depending on the circumstances (leaving the barrel in salt water, for instance).

I think, rust on the outside would be a far more likely issue than inside of the barrel. But technically, the chrome lined barrel is probably less likely to rust

True in my experience. I have a US M9, no exposed chrome at the muzzle. Italian 92A1, exposed chrome.

Both the Italian & American models have fully chrome-lined bores.

On the Italians the chrome just extends slightly to the crown.

Makes no bit of difference in practical use.

I wouldn't worry too much about a miniscule bit of barrel not being chrome lined as "promoting rust". My gun was an old cop trade in, is beat to hell and back, and hasn't a perceptible "finish" at all on the crown of the barrel. Shoots fine, doesn't rust.

Clean your gun, and the minuscule internet-argument-worthy amount of difference in chrome lining won't matter.

FWIW, I think mine's an American gun. Seems better made than some of the newer italian guns, IMO.
