 Sig SP2022 Grips?

I'm going to be getting a Sig SP2022 9mm this weekend, and I've got a question I'm hoping someone here can answer.

In my reading about this gun over the last few days I've been seeing reviewers mention interchangeable panels to adjust the grip size. I'm picturing something like the swappable backstraps on my M&Ps.

However, Sig doesn't mention these panels in their product page for the SP2022, and they aren't listed as an accessory either. Are the reviews mistaken with regard to the panels? Or did Sig remove them from the product before they went to retail or something? Or are they just no longer available?

I'm sure I'll be happy with the gun without them, but if they're out there somewhere I might be interested in picking some up.

Anyone know anything about these?

You can swap the backstraps.

Okay, that's what I assumed from the writeups. I just haven't seen them anywhere online.

The gun is supposed to come with them?

I had a 2022 and it came with 2 in the box factory.

Tried both and decided on the one and never used the other.

They both went with the new owner.

I don't know if you could buy them seperate or if more than 2 styles were offered.

Thanks for the info!

If mine doesn't come with an extra I may see if Sig will sell me one.

The first one I ever bought came with two. That was back when they first came out. My brother bought one not real long ago. It just came with one. It was the smaller, all plastic grip. The other grip has a rubber overmolding. Don't know which one yours came with but here is the rubber one. This is the only place I have seen them.

ETA: Found them both.

Mine came with both a year ago. Midway USA sells the larger grip with the rubber on it if you need it. I use the smaller plastic grip.

Thanks for the links! I'll know tomorrow if I need to pick up another or not.

One of the biggest and only complaints about the SP 2022 grip is it's to large.
I don't think you will need the larger one if it only comes with the lanyard ended smaller one. Bought mine slightly used (2009 build) with 3 mags and no larger sized back strap.

I did buy the larger one from CDNN, $5 you cant go wrong. The blade of a flathead screw driver works well to pop the pressure latch in side the back of the mag opening.

Not room in the box for the second grip in mine.

You will be very happy with it. I call it the Sig bargin.
Mine only cost $300

Thanks again, guys. I picked mine up this weekend and it only came with the smaller grip. As others mentioned though, I think I'll be happy enough with that size.

It's a great shooter! Very nice trigger in my opinion.

I'm happy to be a Sig owner.

My SP2022 also came with the small grip with lanyard loop. I replaced it with the same sized one without the lanyard loop from TGS as I smacked my palm on it one too many times while seating magazines.

ETA: Since the lanyard loop grips aren't normally available, I decided not to cut mine and keep it for some day that it might become highly sought after.

I cut my lanyard loop off. Looks factory too!

As it turns out, mine did only come with the small grip & lanyard loop.

It hasn't been a problem yet, but if it does I'll be removing it as well.

I would like some sort of rubberized grip for my 2022 in .40 S&W. I've had mine since '05 or '06, and the lack of grips is the only negative I have had with mine. So who could we pressure to make some?

If you want rubber grips slip on a Hogue all purpose grip. Adds 2 finger indents for more control. $10
