Anyone else have a fit problem with the holster that came with their 238?

Mine is extremely tight, to tight to even use. Yes I adjusted the retention.

I have two P238s, one for the wife and one for myself because I liked it so much.

The holster with the first pistol was extremely tight as well and also unusable. I could not not draw the pistol. The (well attached) holster would pull off of the belt and I still had difficulty getting the holster off by hand. The second one was not as bad but still too tight. The tension was completely loose.

It is nice that they include them, but I don't think that it is a serious holster. I love the CrossBreed MiniTuck for my P238.

The holster that came with mine works well and I really haven't found a holster for the P238 that I like better than the Sig plastic holster that came with it. As far as pulling off the belt, mine is hooked at the bottom of the paddle so that is catches the belt as the pistol is drawn. In fact, it's a pain to get off unless you undo your belt. Mine has a 2012 manufacture date so maybe they've changed it.

Mine is a 1/25/2012 man date. I've talked with a few owners that say the sig holster is trash.

I've talked to a few people that say the gun is trash. My holster works well for me. Others may disagree. That's their prerogative.

They don't know what they are talking about then. The P238 has to be the best pocket .380 going right now. Some early ones had issues but SIG made them right. I've had 2 so far and they function perfect and are incredibly accurate for such a small gun. My Dad liked mine so much that he got one too and his is great. My local gun shop owner got the HD version and she loves it as well.

I recently got to try a Ruger LCP and I have to say I am really glad I got the P238. The trigger on the LCP was long and heavy and the sights were almost non existent.

I wonder if the holsters where made for the original P238 slide. I've read that all P238s come with HD slides now. Mine has the original older/thinner slide and many holster manufactures (like D.M. Bullard) have one holster for the regular slide and one for the HD slide.

I agree. Not only that, IMO it exceeds bigger guns in the shootability department. I've owned a Walther PPK/S, a Beretta Cheetah, and still own a CZ83, and have recently purchased a P238HD. The P238HD is the softest shooting .380 I've ever fired. It's more comfortable to shoot than the CZ83, which is much bigger. It has the best sights of any of the guns I listed.

As far as the holster goes, mine is tight, no doubt. But highly useable. I noticed for the first time is says "Made in Israel" on the back.

I completely agree with how soft the P238 is compared to much larger and heavier guns. My Walker PPK/s was so painful to shoot that I got two mags through it and promptly sold it. My CZ83 also had some vicious hammer bite. Those blowback guns in .380 are absolutely horrible.

I had a guy over on ZS make me a IWB holster for my Sig P238. Very nice custom leather holster for about $50 if I remember correctly. He also made me a double mag pouch for it.

On a side note: I am excited about the Sig P938 which is dimensionally almost identical to the P238 only chambered in 9x19. I hope it fits my holster.

WOW!

I bought my P238 in early March. It is now my favorite carry for warm weather.

I bought two Galco leather holsters. They were both too tight and I had to follow their instructions to use plastic wrap to fit the pistol to the holster.

They now fit like a glove!

The holsters were the first leather ones that I ever bought that were model specific that needed fitting. That concerned me about Galco's quality control.

Now I know what happened. My P238 Rosewood has an HD slide. Looking at your photos it is obvious.

Thanks!

Why no response? Did everyone really get a free holster?

Not me. Mine was the basic 2-tone model with night sites. They might have included the holster with later or higher priced models. It's just a cheap plastic belt holster that rarely get's used for anything other then a holder or for range use. The XDs are always praised for coming with accessories, yet almost nobody uses them.

Mine came with the holster. Bought it late Jan '12 and the case has a build date of Aug '11. I've played with the retention as well but I have to keep a thumb on the slide to holster it or the slide goes OOB. It will come off the belt when unholstering.

The only thing I use mine for is the rare occasion I have to put it in my briefcase. I have a divider in my briefcase and I clip it to the divider and holster it in there if I have to take it off my body.

I wish the 238 was a DA/SA. :(

That is why there are different models for different people. We each have our own opinions which are valid.

I hate DA/SA. That is why I sold my S&W 6906 and 4506. Personally, I don't like a pistol that changes manual of arms after the first shot. That is why many police departments issue DAO when they issue a non-striker fire pistol.

That said, many people love DA/SA and that is OK.

Many people think Cocked and Locked is dangerous and many police departments will not allow them. However many people, including myself feel Cocked and Locked is safer.

Again different guns for different people.

I bought the P238 because it was single action only.

Sig considered both of us. P232 for you and P238 for me.

I bought mine this year and got a free holster, then I bought two Galco hosters. The free holster is OWB and plastic. It is a decent holster though I prefer leather.

Now I have an OWB, IWB, and pocket holster to carry my P238.
